Im doing a school project and am trying to prove that people from different nationalities who encounter harder times than people who are of the same descent. This is not to say that they cannot make a marriage work efficently but do you think that it would take a bit more effort? Do you think that it is easier to be maried to some one who is the same nationaility as you are?

Having seen a lot of inter-racial marriages, here is what I think.

The most controversial issue between races is always religion. If both are very devout to their religion, and bring up kids, the kids usually have a harder time growing up. The other is extended family and culture, which includes cuisine. If an Indian is vegetarian, the other one is not, there will be problems.

By the way, Indians should quit saying "American", because all of us are American if we took the citizenship oath. This is how the rift begins---calling someone American means us and them.

Assuming that the four people (INDIAN, AMERICAN) and (AMERICAN,AMERICAN) love and respect each other a lot

It might get stressful and since both are religious they might resent each others habbits or feel disconnected and feel like they are having a very different lifestyle.

But as long as they both understand each other well and respect each others needs chances are it will work.

But again people of the same race will have a less stressful like cos they dont have many aspects of thier marriage which needs lot of work.

I am indian...So yes i think it is better to marry someone of your own race... Indians if you mean from (india) not only have religion, but our families when we get married become like (one) you're all together almost 24/7.. I have an american friend who is dating an indian. And his parents have a hard time excepting her. And don't want their son marrying her...So i think it's better and less stressful marrying out of your own race. But if both people really love each other then they should go for what makes them happy.
