If he had never taken Romeo to the party he would have never met Juliet, and none of it would have happened.

Well, Mercutio DID take Romeo to the Capulet ball where he met Juliet. He was very much in the middle of all things despite his apparent alliance with the house of Montague. (Not in a bad way, but Romeo would have stayed further away if Mercutio were more discriminating.)

MERCUTIO WAS KIND OF A LEADER OF THE GROUP. HE DID TAKE ROMEO TO THE PARTY AND HE WAS PARTIAL TO REVENGE
