The ones who have a chip on there shoulder and still blame todays folk for our distant relative slave masters oppression refer to themselves as niggas.

Black people who realise this is a different time, and look on the fact that all people have equal rights dont use this term.

Black people who use this term have no self respect and blame other people for there misfortune... take responsibilty the world is there for whoever wants it!

I sometimes go on myspace, on the forums. On the hip hop forum that's all they ever call each other. It's a horrible word and it was created to put people down and demean them like some kind of animal. The older generation of black people don't use the word between each other because they know what a heinous word it is. The younger generation should respect themselves more. I don't know if, as a white person, I should tell them what they should do and what they should find offensive. But the word makes me cringe. BUT.... I suppose if they take back the word for themselves, it could no longer be used as a weapon against them. It would have no meaning.

I believe it's just common slang amongst themselves but a lot of young people are ignorant to or not affected by where the name originated. There's no way in hell I'd put up with hearing that word by white folk and if I were black and had a son or daughter using it I would be all over that... Slavery need not be forgotten!!!!!

Ok... I'm black. I don't say it at all. But, here's the deal with the n word.
SOME black people say "n!gga". Basically, within the black communities, they have adopted it as more of a term of endearment that they use with each other. Saying something like "thats my n!gga" is like saying "thats my friend", someone close to you like a brother. You wont find any black people walking around saying "hey n!gger"... thats completely different.

Now, when others say it (especially whites), they are not using it in that endearing way. They say "n!gger" and its usually meant to be that demeaning racial slur that it is.

But, like I said.. I don't say it. and I don't think anyone else should. Then that will get rid of all confusion.

I see some idiot related the use of this word by blacks to the use of cracker by whites as a form of self-deprecating humor.

But the word cracker has little of the degrading and deprecating effect on whites as the N word conveys toward blacks. There is no history of slavery, segregation and discrimination behind the use of the word cracker or similar words like honkey.

I think its just a faux ironic nuance used by n.iggers with a chip on thier shoulders.
