matahari is correct; she is using grams. Cirric, you are citing an answer in kilograms, which is 3 orders of magnitude larger (hence the 27). We can also say that the proton has a mass of 938.27 MeV.

1 amu (atomic mass unit). That's probably more likely to be what your teacher is looking for. You usually don't need to know the mass in grams.
