The Wizard of Oz. I watched part of it again the other day and realized that it gets better as I get older. The writing, the dancing, the singing, the beautiful sets. Just think how many lines you can quote and everyone knows what movie it came from. ("Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" to "There's no place like home. There's no place like home.") Then think how often these lines have evolved to have their own meaning completely apart from the movie so that a lot of people say them with even knowing the origin? For instance, how many times have you heard someone say, when he wants to wake people up to a situation, something like, "We ain't exactly in Kansas anymore, Toto!" Or if someone sarcastically wants to deny responsibility for something (when his responsibility is obvious): "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!"

I'm not saying this is my personal favorite movie (though it's one of them). But I think it may well be the best. Several critics have said that since 1939 there have been very few good movies made in America that don't pay homage to The Wizard of Oz in some way.

Citizen Kane and Casablanca are widely considered to be the best movies ever made. Or maybe the best American movies ever made, I don't know.

Personally, I go for Amelie.

This is too hard to answer: I have many favourites but if I must pick one it would be It's A Wonderful Life!
A bit sappy and not my usual style I also like stuff like Kill Bill???

I would have to go with either The Wizard of Oz, or the Grapes of Wraith.

Difficult to pick only one.
But now that you ask, I would say:
"Indiana Jones - Raider of the Lost Ark" (1981)
