Ok, If you can slove this question and tell me how you did that would be great!

Little Cindy Lou Who and Rudolf wanted to have a play date,but Whovill and Christmastown are 5,400 miles apart!Rudolfs mom suggested that they meet somewhere in between,according to the following algorithm.Rudolf can fly at 700 miles per hour from christmas town to Whoville,while Cindy Lou Who can fly on her toy plane ate 200 miles an hour from Whoville to Christmastown.Assume they both travel in a stright line,and they will stop to have their play date where they meet.If both set out at the same time how many miles will Rudolf travel before meeting Cindy Lou Who?

i believe he would have travelled 4200 miles in 6 hours when they meet.
she would have travelled 1200 miles in the same amount of time.

what i did was i added 700 and 200 miles, equals 900 miles.
that's the total distance they would've covered in an hour.

then i took 5400 divide by 900 miles, equals 6 hours.
that's the amount of time they need to cover the entire distance.

finally i use 6 hours times 700 miles, equals 4200 miles.
this is the distance he traveled before meeting her.

The other way to think of this is to set up the following equation, using X for the number of hours they travel:

5400 = 700X + 200X

(They will travel a total of 5400 miles since they meet in the middle.)

Thus 5400 = 900X and X=6. They travel for 6 hours, and Rudolph travels for 6*700 = 4200 miles.

The same answer, but this shows the algebraic work. :o)

it will take cindy lout 13.5 hrs to get there and rudolf 3.8 hrs.
