I havent had a period since August and severe pain in my lower abdomen during and after sex. SOmetimes it just hurts during normal activities. I went to the Dr. yesterday. I'm not pregnant. I have no infections. They did multiple tests, including a vaginal ultrasound, pelvic exam, pap smear, urine test, blood test, and culture test. It's all normal.I've always had normal periods. This is really weird. The Dr. gave me some meds to induce my period and said to come back in a few weeks if this is still going on. HAs anyone ahd this similar experience. Or know of someone?

could be thyroid tumors. My mother and a couples of my aunts and one cousin had thyroid tumors. My mother was in severe pain, missed periods. She had them removed. One was the size of a grape fruit. Its hereditary in my family. Sometimes weight is a factor. I pray that everything works out for you.

It's possible that you could have this, But you should do your research and see if this sounds like any of your symptoms and if so, bring it up to your doctor. Good Luck
Endometriosis is a painful, chronic disease that affects 5 1/2 million women and girls in the USA and Canada, and millions more worldwide. It occurs when tissue like that which lines the uterus (tissue called the endometrium) is found outside the uterus -- usually in the abdomen on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and ligaments that support the uterus; the area between the vagina and rectum; the outer surface of the uterus; and the lining of the pelvic cavity. Other sites for these endometrial growths may include the bladder, bowel, vagina, cervix, vulva, and in abdominal surgical scars. Less commonly they are found in the lung, arm, thigh, and other locations.
This misplaced tissue develops into growths or lesions which respond to the menstrual cycle in the same way that the tissue of the uterine lining does: each month the tissue builds up, breaks down, and sheds. Menstrual blood flows from the uterus and out of the body through the vagina, but the blood and tissue shed from endometrial growths has no way of leaving the body. This results in internal bleeding, breakdown of the blood and tissue from the lesions, and inflammation -- and can cause pain, infertility, scar tissue formation, adhesions, and bowel problems.

I once had this same issue with lack of periods. They diagnosed me with Poly Cycstic Ovarian Syndrom (PCOS). What happens is the ovaries get a thick mucus on them so when you ovulate, the egg is never really released into the uterus to initiate a period. Your body doesn't sense (because lack of hormones) that you ovulated, therefore it doesn't release the uterus lining. This may the be case. Cysts on the ovaries can sometimes be painful. If they took an ultrasound, they would be able to tell. Even by doing a exam and looking at any discharge at all they can tell if you have PCOS by seeing if the cells have a feather like shape to them. This could be one thing....but women are very complicated so it could be other things too!

1. Did you see a Gyno or an MD?
2. Did you get a full STD Screen?
3. Have you been exercising excessively?
finally, how old are you? some women go through menopause quite early in their life.
