I would like to draw and paint pictures but I am not very skillful with drawing. Is there a software out there that can help me draw and paint? I am writing children poems and I wanted to illustrate the poems with some pictures that fit the scene of the poems. Thank you

I recommend for your first drawing and illustration program, you invest and purchase XARA Xtreme. It is used to create VECTOR images and at the squidoo.com LENS I recommend you can research a link to VECTOR art at FLICKr.com Groups.

and if you find that link useful or it does not work follow through to a squidoo.com LENS I manage on illustration at the following:

All the links there lead to drawing instructions or galleries featuring art work using computer illustration methods and highlighting vector art, illustration and more.

Browse deviantart.com as well and study what you like in art....

For advice on how to draw, You can start by visiting online for drawing instructions

Photoshop is good, but it's targetted towards working on photos.
Illustrator is a little more convenient for drawing.
But it takes a little practice to get comfortable with those softwares. they can seem technical if you've never used anything similar before. And they won't draw it for you....
You might be better off drawing by hand... ??

But why not?
Also, if you want a software that's free, there is "Gimp". It is similar to photoshop, but free.

no software is going to do the drawing for you. Practice on paper first. Or just hire an illustrator to do the drawing for you.

Photoshop has alot of neat brushes and things you can't use to make cool looking art, the problem is not being artistic but figuring out to use the software on their own.

Plus it's expensive.
