This seems outrageous to spend that much money on her hair, but she has really been pleading with me to let her use her allowance money to pay for this. Something about it includes highlights and curls or something. She has probably been saving for 4 months now. I would just hate for her to waste it on this, you know? What should I do?

Your wife gets an allowance? This is strange to me in the first place. But anyway.....you seem very controlling and you seem to act like a father figure rather than a husband. She has to ask you what she can and can not spend her "allowance" on and if you don't like her request you tell her no and she listen.

I guess everyone has there own way of living. I guess you are the one that works and brings the money in the house, but in any case if you give your wife this allowance each week or month or whatever, then she should have controll over that amount. She can spend on whatever she wants. That is "her allowance"

By the way, it depends on where you live is how much hair cost, but yes to maintain your hair, it can be expensive. I guess you like your wife's hair? It makes her happy to look good for you, then let her do it. On a side note........ Be a husband not a father to her. She is a grown women.........

An allowance? Do you realize it's the 21st century? I understand if you are on a tight budget (and I agree that $250 is ridiculous, I would never spend that much on a hair cut) and ask her to spend less. I do agree that if you are the only bread-winner, you have more of a say in where money goes, but an allowance? You deserve a slap. Anyway, if you (both of you) truly believe in an "allowance" then she should be able to spend her saved "allowance" however she pleases. Once you have "allowed" her money, you can't dictate how she spends it.

You're wife has an allowance? Hah.

If you're giving her an allowance big guy, then no, you shouldn't let her spend $250 on a haircut. You should let her spend $250 as a payment on a that new $5000 lcd TV she should be getting you for Christmas. With her allowance money. You know.

Allowance? Why do you call it an allowance? Do you have an allowance with her. You must not have a home. Wait until you are married longer - - $250 is the least expensive of your worries. My wife has spent over $1000 on just Christmas decorations this year. Then asked me to put them up. I would say nothing and smile.

Well, to be honest with you, sounds like you're a terrible control freak. First of all, why does your wife have an allowance. Are you so untrusting that you don't let her have money?

Second of all, once it's her money she should be able to use it as she pleases. So not only are you controlling the money she gets, but you're controlling how she spends it.

Third, it's obviously something she really, really wants. She evidently has serious self-esteem issues (with you as her husband, I can imagine why).

In short, your wife strikes me as a miserable person, chiefly because of her controlling husband. You should really be ashamed of yourself for putting in a position where she has to beg to use her own money to cut her hair the way she wants.

If she has been saving her mad money for months, I'd let her spend it anyway she pleases.

It's really not a matter of letting her. If you guys have agreed that each of you get an allowance that is yours to spend any way you see fit, I don't see how you can legitimately try to stop her.

Just enjoy the difference and understand that she now has to let you blow $250 of your saved allowance on something that she is likely to find as silly as $250 worth of haircare.

PS, an allowance is not silly if each of you pool your money and each of you gets the same allowance to spend as you please.

First of all, whats this about your wife having an allowence??? Is she a child??? If it is something your wife really wants, the two of you should set aside some money over a period of time for her to have it. If you wanted something, I'd advise the same. Or...would you have to ASK her if you could take it out of YOUR allowence.
If your wife should read this I'd advise...take your allowence, and pout money down on a good attorney. Ask the judge for a good Allimony allowence...see how he likes that.

Look you are going to get a million flames, and you probably deserve it. But here is what you should do if you really want to come out of this ahead.

Say something like, well if it means that much to you I'll pay for it, just this once. And you should pay for it. Believe this will make her happier, and probably you happier for how she will thank you, than anything $250 could buy.

Are you kidding? She has an allowance and has to ask you what she can buy with it? I must have read your question wrong, I thought it said wife, that must have said daughter, my fault. Well even so, your daughter should be able to spend her allowance however she wants. She worked hard for that money. Now go take her to get her hair done!
