I've been hearing a lot of bad critics about this book. I'm in neutral ground and am actually wondering what is making people love or hate the new book. Did Carter lie in it? exaggerate things or simply stated the truth and people just can't accept it?

Allen, the middle east is not a hollywood movie with good vs bad people. I'll let you know that Palestinians are not composed purely of "evil" people that enjoy killing innocent and amazingly good Israelis. the truth is that both sides have great people as well as selfish and biased people that take advantage of the misery of others to reach their goals. It is not to say that Palestinians are worse than Israelis or vice versa. As long as there are people that think like you, where is this world heading? Why are you so biased towards one side?
And just to let you know, would do have done any better if your house was stolen, and you would have been kicked out of it and made to live in a chicken cage? I know that palestinian suicide bombing is bad, but so as the zionist strategy, to steal someone's house is illiegal and immoral, and i don't care who it is that does it. If this happened to you, i bet you you wouldn't be wise enough to watch them do so and thank them for being so "good".

Jimmy Carter knows what is going on in the ME much better than the average Joe (remember he was president so he got the inside of what really is going on there between close doors or from CIA etc.)without the PR campaign. He also has a history of trying to make peace between both sides however he is not the only politician who spoke out Many European politicians especially in the UK our greatest allies. However,Its not common for a politician in America to speak out because there are consequences since the Jewish lobby is the strongest lobby in the US their career would be over.Jimmy Carter currently really doesn't have a career he has nothing to loss.P.S.he doesnt speak against Jews he speaks against the actions of the state of Israel, there is a dfference; there are many Jews who don't support Israel's actions even within there country there is a huge group who suppossibly has tens of thousands of jewish members who go so far as to say they dont support the stae of Israel.Jimmy Carter doesn't say that.So no I dont think he is antisemetic.

I didn't read it yet, but I plan to. I read the one he wrote a long time ago titled "The Blood of Abraham" where he discusses how we're all descended from Abraham & the similarities of the beliefs of 3 major religions of the world. He meets with all the key players in the region(specifically surrounding countries & their leaders at the time) to find out their views & opinions r/e the Palestinian/Israeli conflict & possible solutions. There are chapters devoted to each country...USA, Jordon, Syria, Israel etc...
From what I read in this book, I don't think he's against either groups involved. I think he genuinely wants peace in the region & hopes to tell both sides of the story, without media bias.
As for what kind of president he was, I don't see where he was any worse than most.
As a man, I believe he's just tired of senseless killing of innocent human beings, r/e of what ethnicity or nationality they are, over a piece of land.

It's more like, "he's delusional." He seems to believe that it actually helps to have diplomatic discussions with the people that fund Al Queda.

He's accusing Israel of being an apartheid nation. Now, keep in mind that Israel is the only free, democratic government in the Middle East. Arabs that live in Israel can vote, just like the Jews. In what Arab state can Jews live peacefully, much less vote?

He's advocating that Israel and the US essentially negotiate with terrorists. And even if you don't agree that the Palestinian leadership is made up of terrorists, exactly what has Israel gained by 50 years of giving up land for a peace that never happens?

Most Arab nations will not rest until Israel is wiped from the map. Carter seems to be just fine with that.
