The Wii remote is motion sensitive. It doesn't break arms, it's the lunatics jumping about with it and bumping other people that does the damage.

The Wiis are safe. It's not like the remotes just jump out of these peoples hands, like some of the reports are trying to make you believe. What happens is people don't have a very tight grip on the remote, or like you said, they're not wearing the wrist strap. Basically, if you follow the instructions and just keep a tight grip on the remote, you'll be fine. My friends and I all played Wii and got incredibly drunk, and even we didn't end up tossing a remote across the room or anything.

The Wii is safe.
People in general are not.
You don't have to swing the wii remote all around the room to make a sword swing or bowl. A small movement is all that is needed with minimal effort. I can guarantee you that other console players move their controllers just as much as what is required from the Wii.
Bulls*** news.

The Wiimote comes with a wrist strap. If people are really getting into a game, they can lose their grip on it. If the wrist strap is secure, this isn't a problem.
The Wii is not dangerous in itself! The people playing it are just not careful.

well that is half true because that the wii-mote's strap has a flaw. Its soo thin that a good swing and the thing goes flying. And if you are going to buy the wii make sure you get reinforced straps because they really come in handy.

it's people who think they have to swing their hand as hard as possible and POSSIBLY don't have the strap attached and poof the remote slips from your hand hence broken furniture. THERE have been people complaining of RSD, repititive stress disorder, (i.e. kinda like tennis elbo) going through the same motions OVER and over and over will kinda wear out your arms. But it's nothing to be concerned. The wii's are perfectly safe save but the hand ful of people who don't know how to operate them.

It's happened. I've witnessed a friend struck violently in the head during a golf swing. However, if you don't act like an idiot, it's not particularly dangerous.
Though, the wrist strap has been shown to malfunction and snap off during particularly powerful bowling shots.

Yes, to play the wii you can use the control/pointer like a sword or a bow and arrow, or a martial arts nunchuk. People get so carried away waving the controller like a sword - one bloke swung it round and gave his girl friend a black eye. another on put his hand through a window. Sounds like good fun.!!

I have a wii I think it is ridiculous. They have to be getting out of control we have not had so much as a close call. People just need to calm down.
