Europeans lumped them under a single label of "Aborigines". It is worth remembering that Australia is an area comparable in size to Europe, so not surprisingly there were a number of different groups within that label. Some of the major groups that I am aware of are the Nyoongah people of southwest WA, the Koori in the southeast of the country, the Pitjitjara in the central desert, and the Murri people in Queensland. Each of those people have their own language, legends and culture, and there are many other groups that I have either forgotten or never learned about.

I've heard the term "Aboriginees." I don't know what they called themselves, though.
