I have been swing trading in the stock market for the past year and a half. Is this going to hurt my chances of finding a job? Should I put this on my resume, explain it in my cover letter or just wait until the interview?

Thanks for your advice.

Put it on your resume - or it will raise questions.

Unless the rest of your resume is very strong, many employers won't bother to find out why you have a blank and will just go to the next candidate.

You can expand on the skills and talents that this time has helped you develop that you will bring to your position. (You are good at working independently, you are used to being decisive.)

Best of luck

I don't know much about the stock market, but I've been out of a job for a while, too, but I've had a few freelancing jobs, so I say I've been "working from home" as an editor/writer. Maybe you could say something similar, except dealing with stocks? Good luck.

They will notice the gap on your resume. Never have employment gaps on your resume - make sure that you put it on - and then also explain in the interview what you were doing during this time.

Put in on the resume, be sure to point out you were self employed during that time. Potential employers will want to know why you were out of the work force that long. They might think you were being lazy, or in prison. Better to answer questions before they arise.

no if you have good reasons for not having a job it shouldn't. I would state why you were out of employment for so long in your cover letter. Make sure your resume is up to par and have someone review it so it's excellent!
goodluck

You should put it on your resume, because one of the thing prospective employers look for is breaks in the time that you are working, and they want to know what you were doing if you were out of work for any length of time.

yes, put it on your resume so that potential employers know you were doing something and not just sitting on a beach somewhere. Spaces without work look bad on your resume. I would definitely explain.
