Shouldn't he have waited at least until the end of the term?

I honestly doubt that he left his post voluntarily. I think that the President was pressured to oust him. Sure the news reported it as a resignation, but the office of the President rarely fires a cabinet member outright, so as to avoid any controversy and save face. He was probably brought behind close doors and asked to resign. This way the Bush administration would be making a gesture to the public that they are willing to enact change. The truth of the matter is, this act, like so many others that occur in the Bush administration, was purely cosmetic. No real change in strategy will occur because of Rumsfield’s removal. His policies are too far entrenched in how things are being conducted in Iraq that it will take too much time and effort to turn things around before the end of Bush’s tenure.

Why would you care? You want him put in prison anyway, why would you want him to remain in his post?
Our American soldiers obviously think a lot of him, to bad the left couldn't have any patience. Instant gratification seems to be this countries downfall.

The Republicans are damned if they do and damned if they don't. He did not abandon his post. He simply resigned. Dem/libs were pissed because he wouldn't resign, now that he has, their still bitching. Typical!
