At 13 weeks you should be able to hear your baby's heart beat. Your Dr. should have already let you hear it by now. I would just ask him. It is a simple processes and it takes about 30 seconds to do. This is your baby and your body don't be afraid to speak up when you want to know something. Good luck and Congratulations!

I'm 10 weeks and I heard my baby's heart at 7wks 2days so you will definietly hear a heart by 13wks ... if you're lucky you may even see the baby moving around now. At 13wks the child looks like what we imagine a baby would look like (head arms legs fingers & toes) and they move a lot although for the most part we don't notice the movement because they are still very small. Definitely ask the doctor ... you'll be very happy when you see the progress your little one has made. BTW they should offer you a sonogram test to see if the child has signs of Down Syndrome between 11 and 14 wks. So you should make sure they do that test as it doesn't cause any harm. All they do is measure something in the baby's neck by looking on the screen. I'm having my sono for this at 12 wks. Good luck to you for a healthy happy pregnancy and baby!

Most likely the doctor is not worried, because like you said, you were able to see and hear the heartbeat through an ultrasound a few weeks ago. It happened to me too - I am 19w pregnant now. At my first ultrasound when i was only 6 weeks pregnant, the technician was able to see/hear the heartbeat, but my doctor couldn't pick it up with the doppler until I was 14 weeks...

Yes, you will. I'm pregnant with my second child and I went for my first appointment last week. I was 11 weeks and we got to hear the heartbeat. At my OB we listen to the HB at every appointment. And I get two ultrasounds so I get to see the baby twice before it's born!

I think all Dr's are different. I had my first ultrasound at 10 weeks and was able to hear the heartbeat at that time. I would most definitely ask though. Sometimes I think people in the medical profession don't realize how new and exciting these experiences are for their patients.

They are able to hear the heartbeat with a Doppler at around 9 weeks. If they do an ultrasound, they are able to see it around 6 or 7 weeks. So yes, you should be able to hear it by now.
Good luck!

yes...all doctors should have a fetal doppler at their office....i didnt get to hear my babys heartbeat until my 10 week appointment...its just not strong enough to be detected with the doppler until then....
there is no harm in asking...it only takes seconds to do....the dr. should start doing at every visit from now on....if she doesnt, ask her to....im sure (she should) understand your concern for wanting to know the well being of your baby!!!

Depends on how the ultrasound is done. I heard my son's heartbeat at 6wks but it was an internal ultrasound. I don't remember how far along I was before I heard his heartbeat during a regular ultrasound.
