you say about Beatles, pink floyd, rolling stones, acdc, sex pistols, red hot chili peppers, queen, guns and roses, aerosmith, nirvana, led zepplin, bruce springsteen, tori amos, jimmy hendrix etc. I know they are different in their musical abilites and style. I'm curious what you would call them.

People who think those pop "singers" are talented are dumb people...Eww pop is glammy junk...Rock music is the way to go and most ppl know this......

Well I am a fan of all types of music,and I think it is just a matter of opinion as to who makes good music.I love Red Hot Chili Peppers,Tori Amos,Nirvana,Jimi Hendrix,The Beatles etc.. Could go on all day, but I also think Madonna,Beyonce,and Justin are good artists. They can all sing and dance well.

Shakira is actually very talented for several reasons:
1) She writes her own songs
2) She speaks 5 languages (Italian, Spanish, English, Arabic, Portugese, and some French).
3) She has written an entire album in Portugese and sold well over 2 million in Brazil before her 21 birthday
4) Shakira's dancing abilities are just out of this world
[ 5) Shakira has a variety of vocal depths and this did was even more noticable in her 1999 album Donde Estan Los Ladrones
6) Her lyrics are well-known to contain complex structured lyrics that make references to religion, politics, and the very nature and philosophical explaination of why we love...not many artists do this
7) Her lyrics mean something and she takes time to write them not like Britney Spears or Beyonce who meet the studio deadline to create an album
8) In the late 90s she created a foundation called Piez Descalzos Bare Feet which builds schools and homes for abandoned children of Colombia.....she speaks about the seperation of racial in tolerance between black and mestizo inhabitants of Colombia...all this BEFORE SHE WAS FAMOUS in the USA like she is today....
9) She is the youngest and most effective ambassador in Latin America and for UNICEF
10) She can speak about world issues and know from experience what she is talking about something Daddy Yankee or Raymound Ayala can't do...he can't even speak...what a loser...he has someone write his lyrics

I say at least they try.
They should know, however, that their music is all founded somewhere, sometime, on greats like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Who, Yes, Aerosmith and more of my favorite bands.
Shakira, Beyonce, and Madonna have great voices, but they should be piping out Great Gig in the Sky, not how pretty they are and how guys love them. Ooooooowoahooooaaoooah is a pleasing sound to me, not "my hips don't lie"!

I grew up with the Backstreet boys too (I'm 15) however I have got to vote for Justin Bieber. He's received proficiency, the voice, the hair, and the WOW aspect. I am a Michael Jackson, Justin Bieber lover all of the means.

I think anyone who truly appreciates music likes a little bit of all of it, even though they may gravitate toward a specific kind of music. A good critic of music listens to a variety of artists and genres of music. Rock music, rap, and country are all very popular forms of music and probably have an equal listening audience, but they all discuss different things that different people can relate to. Knocking a genre of music makes it seem like you have bad taste in music. I've spent time in a recording studio growing up and I know how much work goes into making a song, so I can appreciate music that seems like it took alot of effort to make. I like many songs from artists from both lists.

you can't judge 2 different styles of music beyonce is very talented because she sings songs for the ladies who been through tough times in their relationship giving women words of inspiration so they won't be so vulnerable in a relationship and the other people u listed is just for entertainment but if u look at mary j. blige she has helped many women in different kind of situations through her song and words because she relates to them she has been through them herself im not much of a fan of rock but some of them are very talented people too i think the beatles have made great songs imagine is my favorite and i also like bon jovi he makes good songs too everyone is talented in their own way wether it be entertainment or real music

I love them all...well minus Springsteen. Most of teh acts on the second list are a bit before my time, but Springsteen is WAY before it. Its a timeframe issue I think. All are talented (or entertaining at least) though....just in different ways.

Shakira is AMAZING. She is SELF-MADE, incredibly talented, wonderful woman. She's the best!
By the way, the song is not about her body. "My hips don't lie" is NOT the same thing as "My hips are sexy." She is saying that her hips are TELLING her that she has chemistry with the guy, she wants to dance with him.
