it depends on how your body reacts....i have a friend who had hers stripped and still went 9 days past her due date...others end up in the hospital in labor within 24 hours.

once your plug is gone, the cervix can start to efface (thin out) and then properly dilate.....your pretty much a sitting duck until then....a lot of walking can help the pelvis to open up which allows the babys head to descend farther down into the birth canal, which could help in speeding up the effacement/dilating time....

your little one should be here soon...good luck!

It may take some time. I think I answered one of your questions earlier about this...When I had it done with my daughter, it was done at 9am and I felt a little uncomfortable for part of the day, and then at around 7pm, I started to feel very uncomfortable. By 9pm, I was into full blown contractions about 8 minutes apart, then by about 10:30pm, they were 3 minutes apart and VERY strong. Unfortunately, my labor then slowed down a little and I didn't actually have her until 10 am the next day (so, about 13 hours of labor)
Unfortunately, it is different for every woman though. For some it is hours, some it takes days and some it just doesn't work.
Don't worry..it will happen when it is meant to be. In the meantime, get plenty of rest and be prepared.
Good luck and Congrats!

Stripping the membranes doesn't always work but I've heard about women going into labor a couple hours after having this done.
I found this website to have helpful information:

I was considering having this done in the next week if nothing happens... I'm curious to find out how it worked for you? :)

Good luck!

I had it done two weeks before I was due; it was done on a Wednesday and I went into labor that Saturday. So it will happen when it is supposed to.

It takes some time usually, but I would say you will be in labor sometime tonight...if not tonight DEFINITELY tomorrow.

Good luck!
