First do whatever it takes to salvage the grades you have. If its too late to save those grades, if you failed , you will need to make them up. Usually the class with the higher grade overrides and imporves your GPA but that is up to your school. Even if it doesnt directly erase the failures extra courses bring up your GPA, especially if you do really well in them. Its time to get as many As as you can. Remember Four As will average out your four Fs to Cs.

You should check in your student handbook or ask someone at the school how they handle grades for retaking a class. Some schools will use both grades in your average. Some schools will replace the old grade with the new one. Failing a class is never good for a GPA. Think of it this way: You need one A for every F just to get a C average. Certainly more As will help the situation. Good luck and study hard. Also, ask for help. Teachers are often more likely to be generous with your grade if they see that you truly want to learn the material.

IT'S AN "AVERAGE", so don't worry too much. A record of 40 classes with an 80 average can absorb a failing grade of only a 40 and only see your overall average fall to 79 from 80.

just buckle down now, consider this one grade as your slip and work that much harder.

I failed due to absences the second semester of my junior year. I had to take a full schedule my senior year, as well as 4 night school classes. It was a pain, but I walked with my friends. As far as your GPA, it depends on your school. Talk to a counselor about it.

Generally, if you make up a class, the newest grade goes on your teanscript. But, I am only speaking from experience in college. You need to go talk to someone at the district office to find out what the procedures are in your district.

If you make them up with in a reasonable time, you should get the higher grade. Talk to your teacher.

not only will it bring your grade down but you possibly may not be able to graduate depending if the classes you are failing are required for diploma requirements.
