Why not leave it alone? It's not like they hurt anything and they eat lots of insects.

The bat may be staying there because at night there may be insects flying around near the porchlight, and it's an easy food-court for him.
See if you can catch him, and then let him go somewhere else, at least 5 miles away. I had to catch 2 bats at my ranch when I first moved in. I used a T-shirt tossed over the bat to handle it, much the same way you use a towel to catch a parakeet that's flying loose in the house.

Loud or irritating noises will run off a bat, but why would you want to? Bats will eat their own weight in bugs every night. They keep the bug population low and give you quite a conversation piece.

grenades or a mongoose...............or a mongoose with grenades and a shotgun firing anti-bat rounds. You can cover the mongoose from inside the house with a flame thrower. Have someone tie a rope to your belt so that they can pull you to safety in case the bat (or one of his posse) gets past the mongoose. And wear clean underwear, just in case things go really bad.
good luck

they make bat alarms that emit a high pitched noise that humans can't hear. Although I am not sure if it will affect dogs

You probably should call animal control and let them come get it. They will probably want to check it for diseases.
