I went to Vegas in January 2006.
TI is next to the mirage and both great. TI has a show outside that is also very good.
The best mystere show is "O", and that's the french word for water. The stage opens and closes with the people diving into the water, and then walking. It is so amazing and worth every penny. We got side tickets - and as close to the front as most everything was sold out. I loved that show.
All mystere shows are not the same, and some very different and less expensive (I think I paid about $95/each, but again "O" is the best show, and I believe it's in the Bellagio). The Bellagio also has outside water fountain shows all the time, and you can see them from the Eifel Tower across the street if you get the restaurant lunch or dinner-if you can afford it reservation.
Vegas has buses that go anywhere.
TI & Mirage are centrally localed and you can walk to many places. It's fun. Don't forget to see the white tigers on the first floor at the Mirage.
Lunch is pricey on the 2nd floor at the Eifel Tower - but well worth it. You have to try to book from your hotel for even lunch as it's booked many months in advance.
The other place that's great is lunch at the Stratosphere, it revolves on the second floor and you can see all over Las Vegas especially where the homes are all over the town. - and the bus goes there too.
If you go to travelocity.com and expedia.com they have many examples of places to go and see.
It was amazing and although we did a little of the "slot machines", the rest of the town as much to see. It was cold in January so we had our coats, and could not use any of the pools.
The Venetian just opened across from TI and Mirage and was interesting.
Be careful as they many who try to steal purses and wallets, so have the gentlemen of the group have their wallets in their front pockets. And of course, the fanny pack (actually worn in front at the belt level) was a must for me.
At the end of 6 days, I was ready to go home. I did have fun.
GOD bless.

There's very little chance of getting a better deal if you wait, since the discount ticket places don't usually have tickets for the big, popular shows like Mystere. And, you want to buy ahead to get the good seats, which will be all sold out if you wait.
A couple of people mentioned the Deuce bus, which is ok. There is also the Strip trolley, which is $2.50 per ride or $6.50 for an all-day pass. The Deuce has an all-day pass for $5. Bus, trolley or taxi will all have the same problem, though: the traffic on the Strip is terrible, so they will all be slow. But don't try to walk too much...the distances are MUCH farther than they look. Click on the links below for more info.

There is a 1/2 price ticket booth near the giant Coke Bottle on the Strip. You can get 1/2 price tickets for shows that night based on availability. I'm not sure if they carry Mystere, but you can check when you get there.
There is most definitely a bus that runs the length of the Strip all the way to Fremont Street. It's called the Duece, and it's $2 per ride or $5 for an all-day pass.

Typically I'd say wait until you get here but because of the holidays you might not want to chance it. There is a place called Half Priced Shows/Tickets that is next to the Coke A Cola store/M&M World. After noon you can go there and buy tickets half price. They have all the good shows.
Mystere is wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Treasure Island is a good casino and at a good location.
The CAT Bus system is pretty good although to my knowledge tourists usually take Taxis or the Duece.
****The Half Price Tickets are only good for the SAME day shows.

You should buy them now, especially if you want to go on a Friday or Saturday night. If you wait until you get there, the show may be sold out. The prices are all the same. Treasure Island is a good place to stay, you can take the tram over to Mirage and walk to all sorts of places from there. There are no buses on the strip---it's all the tram or monorail---or you can always take a cab. Have fun!!

i would buy the ticket now. the mystere is the most family friendly show among the cirque du soleil.
as far as transportation, you can walk along the strip to other casinos like mirage, bellagio, or venetians. there is also a tram to mirage (from the entrance of mystere show, just go up the elevator and you should see the tram station). if you need to go further, i would get a cab. i rode in the bus couple years ago and didn't like it...
Compared to other hotels, T1 is ok.

I believe there is a place on the strip across from the Monte Carlo by the huge Coca Cola bottle that sells discount tickets. It might be called Tickets4Less? Not sure. Yeah, Cirque shows are great, but there is a lot of good entertainment to be had. Do you like Frankie Valle? Try the Jersey Boys or magic? Try Lance Burton, it's old Vegas kinda stuff but I like it.(Besides he is a great guy.) Have fun, look around.
