There is no reason why Scots people should not converse on this site, but the Scots are far from being a homologous people. The Edinburgh Scot differs from the Ayrshire Scot, as does the Glasgow Scot differs from the Scot from the Scot from Paisley or Helensburgh. Arbroath, Inverness, Thurso, Kyle of Localsh, not to mention Skye, Tiree, Benbecula, Lewis. What, therefore, construes Scottishness? What makes a person English? The Home Counties think they rule England (and the rest of the world),. Yorkshire thinks it rules the North. Cornwall could well wish for independence from the English yoke, and I would be happy to see a border drawn around the peninsula in which I liove, to keep Londoners out from our little town.
A difficult question. I'm half-Scots, half -Irish with a residue of Jewish blood. Will the Scots have me if the baloon goes up?

Why should it. Like you said culturally and temperamentally different. It's called independence. Alex Salmond would love you on his side. Remember no man is an island.
I have come to the conclusion that the Scots have a fixation about themselves. And the only ones that can fix that is the Scots themselves. Go and rough it for a change and see how the real world is.
PS You'll have to drop the English language and go with gaelic if you want a wee Scottish category.
Me well I probably have more Celtic blood running through my veins than the asker.

But then you'd have to get an English, Welsh, Irish section which would lead to even more calls for separation (like Cornish, Londoners, Manchurians, Glaswegians etc.). Besides I'm not at all averse to calling myself British (as you can see!) even though technically I'm English. I'm proud of being united with Scotland and Wales. (and N. Ireland in the case of the United Kingdom).
Go team Brit!!!

It would be lovely if there was a Scots forum on ANSWERs. I love the Scots., droll, down to earth, enormously witty, hard workers, drinkers, churchgoers etc. It would be triffic if there was a Scots site [as long as I was allowed to call by for a wee dram

If it was done for the Scots then it'd have to be done for all nationalities, and that's way too many categories to deal with.
