I'm a part-time legal assistant at a law firm, and for Christmas I am going to be baking all kinds of cookies and goodies for my 4 co-workers. I bought some really nice gift boxes and I'm going to place them in there with tissue, and make it look really nice. I think this is a nice gift, but I'm thinking that I might add something else to it (something they can keep and not eat). I only work part-time, and I'm a student, so I don't want to spend a lot of money. Got any ideas of what I can add to the gift box??? Ideally, I would like it to be some kind of art & crafts, so that I can make it myself, because it's a hobby of mine, and I will be able to personalize them. Also, keep in mind that 2 of the attorneys are male, so I don't want to get anything girly!

What should I get/make for them???

I've made 'chook' paper weights for my friends there rather easy you cut 2, 5" x 4" cotton fabric rectangles, flowers for girls stripes for guys or similar ..... I cut a comb, beak and wattle out of red felt the comb is at the top left corner and the beak and wattle are down the side from the top left corner i fill these with rice [leave a gap so you can turn the right side out] and stitch up the gap by hand they sit on books to hold pages and can take on different poses i use to use wheat for filling but some people are allergic to it I made the pattern up my self but i have seen similar ones around

Well, you can make a nice card for them using crayon shavings, wax paper, an oven, markers, and 2 pieces of paper.

1) take a couple of crayons and cut shavings off
2) put the shavings on wax paper cover with another piece of wax paper and heat in oven til melted
3) cut a hole in i sheet of paper(we did christmass trees)
4) Glue the edges of the wax paper to the paper to where you can see the crayon
5) glue the other sheet of paper to the inside of the card so that it covers the othe side the wax paper
6) write your message on the card and there you go

I also have a cool cookie recipe:

Santa Clause Cookies

take nutter butters(the ones that look like giant peanuts), meltable vanilla squares(from walmart),mini m&ms, mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, red sprinkles(little), and icing in a squazable tube(if you can't find one, put the vanilla in a ziplok baggie and cut the corner off but only a little bit of the corner or it won't work)

1) melt 3-6 chuncks of the vanilla into a small bowl
2) dip one end of the nutter butter into the vanilla about 1 in down
3) sprinkle the sprinkles onto the nutter butter
4) use the tube or baggie to put a border on the "hat"(sprinkles) (bottom)
5) put a white chocolate chip onto the edge of the "hat" for the fuzz ball
6) dip the other side of the nutter butter into the vanilla to make the beard
7) use the tube or baggie to stick the eyes(mini chocolate chips) and the nose(red m&ms) on
8) put on wax paper and let dry

I think your idea is great. How about tieing (sp?) the boxes with a nice ribbon and include a Christmas Ornament within the ribbon tie? You can make some nice small Christmas ornaments or possibly buy them cheaply at a dollar store or so...?

Just a thought. Good Luck!

Hi and Merry Christmas!

If you really insist, you could make a little snowflake or two to go with the cookie boxes... I am in the process of giving away snowflakes (6-pointed!) to my friends and am very amused at how many people like them.....the men adore them! ... just cut them out of plain paper and then glue them to colored or white tissue to backlight them ... trim away the excess and glue a little piece of ribbon or shiny string to the back to make a hanger ... they will go up on windows or doors or hang from a lamp ... or even from the ceiling or the top of a doorway ..

The only things I can think of is a Christmas ornament, or instead of tissue paper, line the box with a festive cloth dishtowel or napkin(s).

You can make a picture frame and insert a picture of you all in it. Or just give them cookies and a homemade (maybe on a computer) christmas cards.
