If you look at the history of the major leagues, then the answer is yes. What they've done - 26 championships, a list of legends unrivaled by other teams - is pretty amazing.

If you're talking about the past several seasons, then the answer is no.

Of COURSE!!!!!!!!! We have true history. And when you hear people talk about the "greats" you hear the names Mantel, Yogi, The Babe.. Those were names you couldn't buy back then.. Yeah we have money but we have legends that didn't play for the money.. They played for the game. Knowing that at the end of the season they were walking off with a ring.. The babe even said.. I am going to play for a team so I can get a ring.. And even today you look at Jeter that has made the best of a team that had more injuries and downfalls and he raised them up and still fought the good fight for us. The loss of family and team members this past year didn't hold them back. Jeter keeps his team together no matter what. And we will only get better. We have one of Yankees legends as the new bench coach this year.. Lets go #23 and lead us to a win.. and Rumor has it that Don will be taking over as the team coach next year when Torre retires.. ONE CAN ONLY HOPE>>

ABSOLUTELY!

Throughout their First Century, the New York Yankees have spawned memorable personalities and indelible moments. But above all, they have been defined by team success, a level of excellence beyond anything achieved by any other team in any other sport.

Remember these great players:
Joe DiMaggio
Whitey Ford
Yogi Berra
Mickey Mantle
Babe Ruth
Lou Gehrig
Don Mattingly
Alex Rodriguez
Derrick Jeter
and so many more great players.

Who can beat their record with 26 World Series wins. They just keep adding wins to a growing string of pearls.

Well, they have won the most championships if that's what you are asking. If you are refering to the current Yankees team, then no. They weren't even the best team in the AL and that won't change next year either.

On paper - I think so. Let's see. A.Rod (considered one of the best); Jeter (best leader and clutch player in MLB); Rivera (best postseason closer ever); and lastly they have the most championships throughout the history. Therefore, I think You could make a good case for them being the best team ever.

Throughout Major League Baseball history? Yes, that is not a question.

Right now? No. Last year? No. Among all sports franchises? Debatable.
