I think the tide has turned a little beyond the point of reason. I cite this question as an example.

The people who answer "bush must be lying" clearly have no concept what so ever of how the economy works or the state it is in. It doesn't benefit Wall Street in anyway to inform people that the economy is strong. If anything, they would be the ones screaming if it wasn't.

Do you think it is dangerous when we abandon all reason for blind hate?

People who spit political venom are usually those who never take the time to research any one topic. I don't pay any attention to them. History will judge Bush #2. Clearly one must put themselves in his shoes before commenting and that's impossible. One thing I will say and that is if Clinton had done his job the United States would not be at war today.

I work on Wall Street. We get paid for our advice and we're not shills for any president. Because the curret economic conditions are so good, it is probably difficult for many people to remember the bad times. Anyone remember Jimmy Carter? People who think 21% interest rates are a good thing don't remember the 18% inflation rate. Thay also don't remember the gas lines nor the stagnant stock market. Our ecomony has been good for a generation and that's the only memory they have.

There is some reason behind the hate. The reasons may be different for a wide variety of people. Bush's place in history with be remembered best by those who write the history books.

I love Steve's answer... sports fans rooting for their team. that is so true and I'm upset I didn't think of it.

most people in this country dont understand the intricate workings of a govt and economy this large and powerful. we have turned into a have it now microwave it and go society that is contrary to the true workings of politics and world societies.

I site this as an example. in the religion category you will see people say that evolution could not have happened because no body alive has seen a cat turn into a dog over their life time.

it truly is amazing what some people will say or use for an attack on the other "team"

Of course I do, but then I would because I am a die-hard conservative Republican. However, nothing can be accomplished with a half-hearted effort--i.e. Vietnam. Will it take another 9/11-type attack for more Americans to see that we are at war--with terrorism? Removing radical US-bashing dictators makes the world safer for Americans and most other people also. But if we continually second guess our leaders, terrorist will become stronger and bolder. Democrats used scare tactics in the recent election to re-gain control. The scare-tactics revolved around the President (not terrorists or our "enemies"), which only weakened the US in the eyes of the world and the terrorists. We are setting ourselves up for future attacks if we continue to argue internally and show weakness.

I really dislike Bush, but I don't think everyone can be 100% bad all the time. I don't like posting unless I feel like I have at least some background info on the topic. I think both conservatives and liberals on this site sometimes are guilty of blind anger/hatred over a topic or person. But, yes, it is a dangerous thing.

No. When the whole recount debacle was over in 2000 I wasn't happy that Bush would be president but I wanted him to be successful. I couldn't consider myself a patriot if I felt otherwise. Later after 9/11 happened hoped he would rise to the occasion and become a great leader during difficult times. Even when we invaded Iraq, even though I felt strongly that it was a terrible idea, I was still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I was willing to wait before passing final judgment, giving them time to find the weapons of mass destruction. I'm still waiting. My expectations of him have continued to drop over the course of six years to the point where they can't go any lower.
I haven't been quick to judge. I've given him ample opportunity to prove to me that he is more than he seems. Like I said, I'm still waiting.

I agree, but remember that cuts both ways.

Many of those answers said things were actually much better than Bush was saying, presumably because they believe "the media" is always lying.

In all, I'm saddened to see this forum turn into little more than a bunch of sports fans raving about their team. At the point where we either blindly support OR blindly criticize, democracy has ceased to truly function.

No. Bush has had over five years to do something ! We're more in the RED than we have been in history. Bush has borrowed more money than all other past presidents put together. China owns us. A lie is a lie, and has NOTHING to do with how the economy works ! Blind hate ? Non-sense ! Bush is the worst president in history, deal with it ! He's the most disliked world-wide in history. WAKE UP ! WILL YOU ??????????????????????

What you are seeing is a loss of trust and this is because of what Bush has done. He lied to the nation about WMDs so he could go to war and lots of innocent people have died.

Ok, you can argue that he thought there were WMDs but at the end of the day how likely is that? I think we all know that he lied and I think we should all have realised by now that polticians, particularly in a democracy, are liars.

After what he has done everything he says is suspect. Even Clinton lied but at least no one died when he did.

the question is who experiences this "strong economy" the dow jones represents how well the stock market is doing, it does not track the fortunes of the average family.

most ppl don't hate bush himself, he's not that objectionable a guy-- they dislike or even hate his policies for what they have done to the country.

it's not an atack on the person, if that matters to you, it's an attack on what the person has done or not done.

I think people are too quick to believe others who judge bush without viewing the details with an open mind.
