Red and puffy eyes and sniffy nose
Facial expression , I don't mean not smiling either. I am talking about sad eyes and a really bad frown.
Slumpy shoulders and head down

If a person is only shedding a few tears it might be difficult. If they are out and out bawling, no amount of rain will hide it.
Interesting question. LOL!

yes because there would be tears in their eyes. When it rains people don't usually try to catch water, so they can go into their eyes. Look into their eyes, and not around them.

yes, you can tell if their eyes are either puffyish & reddish, and also if their nose is red, and also if they sort of sound like they just blowed their nose... or if they refuse to show thier face, after you hear them sobbing, then they probably are crying

Yes. they tend not to look too bright and cheerful. The boo hoo hoo tends to give it away as well.

Not from far away.......if you are walking right beside them, maybe. Or if they are your friend and you know what they look like when they cry.....

What a 'lovely' question? If they are drenching, no; if they are sheltered under an umbrella, maybe!
