This is the case! My fiance's cousins grandma passed away recently and he wants our daughter and me to go to the funeral. Even though its not his real grandma, she has always treated him like a grandson. I don't think its a good idea to take a baby into that kind of environment but am I just being selfish?

It is up to you where your baby goes. If the baby is usually calm and quiet I do not see a problem taking him/her along to the funeral. However if there is to be a get together type event either before or after the actual funeral take the baby there and not the funeral services if you are apprehensive about it. Ultimately, it is up to you about where your baby goes.

No, you are not being selfish. Taking a baby to a funeral is not a good idea. People are grieving and if your baby is making noise or worse, crying, it is just looked upon as disrepectful. At least, where I come from it is. If your fiance wants you there, see if someone can watch your baby while you attend.

Well if they cry during the service you will have to take them out. I was at a funeral for my friends mom the other day and a baby started crying and it took the mother like 5 minutes to figure out she should take her baby outside. So it is very disrespectful if they make noise during the service. I think it is a good idea to leave the baby with a sitter, I know I would.

i'd stay on the motel in the course of the truly funeral. yet in the adventure that they have got a amassing in a while, i'd truly take area to exhibit help. many times, in the course of the amassing following the funeral, there's a lot less crying and breakdowns. If there isn't any amassing afterword, before leaving, make a at the same time as to bypass see the kinfolk before or after the funeral to exhibit help. good luck.

My grandma died when my son was 8 weeks old. We brought him to the funeral. It was actually kind of comforting to me and the rest of my family to have him there.

I think you should bring him. He will probably lift the spirits of many people. There's just something about being reminded of new life when you are at a funeral.

it is totally up to you. I wouldn't think a 6 month old would comprehend what the occasion is. If your child is going to disturb the service, I would say don't take him. However, if he/she can sit that long, than I wouldn't see the problem. I have seen babies at funeral's, probably out of necessity though.

I think you should do whatever you feel comfortable w/,if she were a little older I would say no,b/c that's something you wouldn't want to explain to a child at such a young age. Also you don't want to take her and have her be fussy.Usually theres a get together after the service why not take her there I'm sure she w/ bring a smile to all the sad people!

It's okay to take the baby. The deceased isn't going to hurt the baby. Sit in the back just in case the baby cries you can easily get up and walk out. Can't you have someone baby sit for you?

As long as if the baby fusses, you step out the back quietly, it's fine. The baby is too young to even know what's going on and it won't hurt her. Your fiance asked you to come and be there for him, so what would be selfish is to not go.

Best Wishes,

Sue
