ya know.. you have a "best friend" who you call every few days or so to see how she is doing, and she always says"hey i am coming out there next week, i want to visit you, call me." so you do, and they never call back... this happens all the time to me with my good friend, she is such a flake!!! Every time i go out to where she lives, i never flake, i call her and go see her, but she flakes all the time!! also i have a good guy friend, and he is just horrible at calling back period... i always have to call him, and he's like "i am horrible at calling people" he's just always been like that for the years i've known him, i just think it's funny how some people can be so horrible at calling back, especially when you call someone about something really important.. and leave a message... do any of you agree?

You are both complaining and venting. Perhaps this is the way that you treat people and they just do not want to talk with you because of it.

I agree but am also guilty of the same. I have some very good friends that I just don't slow down enough to take the time to stay in touch. It almost always ends up that are plans are made spur of the moment. that's what happens when you have a family or career and have a life outside of your friends.
You also have to consider another possibility, you may have worn out your welcome. Some people will give off hints like that to keep from hurting your feelings, hoping that you'll clue in and fade away.

I'm guilty of that but I'm married with 3 kids, work and school. And my best friend has 8 kids, no car so it's hard for both of us to get time for each other.Time goes by so fast, it's hard to get everything done in the day that we want. Procrastination makes us seem like horrible people, I'm sure they don't mean anything by not calling you back.

I worked at the phone company for 30 years. The LAST thing I wanted to do was talk on the phone. Some people are just like that. You know your friends so tell them how it makes you feel. Don't be accusatory or defensive, but maybe you'll find out it has nothing to do with them not wanting to talk to you or them just being flaky.

i have exactly the same thing going on with my friend, i always make the effort to ring her and go down there etc but its one way traffic cause she never rings me and never comes down, i wonder sometimes what is the point in being friends cause i do all the giving and i get nothing back, maybe we are too nice for our own good. lately i have stopped ringing her as much and i have stopped going down there, maybe you should do the same.

maybe what you need to do is find some new friends that live in your area and that you can trust and depend on and who are gonna be there for you in your time of need, because to me it sounds as though they are not really your friends.
