I don't know about gods, but I think God created us in "His" image in that we can reflect "His" qualities of justice, beauty, light, love, etc. We're created noble and capable of achieving those criteria. With our freewill, we choose to follow them--or not.

Who set moral and ethical criteria fixed in countless moral codes? God or his followers? With limited understanding , interpretation of gods demands has been made out of human judgement of a world.God is not human...otherwise I would refuse to accept Life...

Gods do not exist. Therefore, their moral and ethical criteria is really a man made phenomenon...and the men that invented those laws should abide to them, however they do not.

According to Saint Augustine, he believed that the Christian God is omnipotent. According to Newman (Cardinal), he believed that the human conscience comes from God, or is the voice of God within us.
So, if you take Augustine's point of view as God being this omnipotent character, then that means that he is above all of this and that morality is just a human tool for keeping order in their societies.
Or, if you take Newman's ideas, then it is safe to say that if God was a man on the earth now he would be moral too as he would be following his own customs, right?

God is omnipotent. God's followers are not. Omnipotent means god has the power to make whatever God does right. Meaning, in effect, whatever God does is right. God is not held by moral or ethical values as we see them. They exist to allow us conscious choice to do right or wrong. Not for us to measure God's validity or worthiness of our devotion. But rather for God to allow us to choose devotion to him or devotion to some other experience or some other "gods". Think about it. There can be only one omnipotent. Otherwise there would not be an omnipotent.

If there were gods, what would be the fun in being one if you had to abide by the rules?

God cannot have any different morals or sins, lesser or greater than the ones he has given us. They cannot be greater because God hates sin, and could not allow us to do what he hates. They could not be lower because hypocrisy is a sin.

MAN created GOD in his image.
therefore, if man wishes his god to have the same moral and ethical criteria as him, the gods will.
