I have a set of ten volumes entitled "War in Peace" which I bought in the late 1980s. They list all the wars fought since WW2 that have occurred in 'peacetime'. I would imagine that you could add two or three volumes to it since then.
This is not a Bush inspired scenario, these wars were going before he was out of short trousers. This is purely a human thing, animals fight briefly if their territory is 'invaded' or encroached on. Chimps, however are the most aggressive and are known to go on murderous 'war parties' stirring up trouble in other clans territories. They also kill and do not eat the meat. Chimps are also the closest animal to humans, so is it a by product of intelligence? Ironic if it is.

What makes you think we're so civilized, have you seen the way the Sunnis treat the Shiites or the way the Shiites treat the Sunnis or the way the Chinese treat their own people? Of the 6 billion people in the world, about 1/3 live in free or semi-free societies. The rest are under the heel of oppression, the way most of the world has existed for thousands of years. Civilization is a paper thin veneer on a bunch of barbarians, you and me included.

Some would say that war is a means to an end outside itself. Yet others believe that it can be an end in itself. REALISTS will typically hold that systems of morals and ethics which guide individuals within societies cannot realistically be applied to societies as a whole to govern the way they, qua societies, interact with other societies. Hence, a state's purposes in war is simply to preserve its national interest. PACIFISTS, however, maintain that a moral evaluation of war is possible, and that war is always found to be immoral. You can find some great philosophical discussions at the links below:

We are all a bunch of school children. We haven't changed from the days when you meet someone after school in the parking lot because they embaressed you or made you look bad in front of your friends. The only thing that has changed is instead of going home bruised, we go home with missing limbs or worse, in a box. There are no winners only those that didn't loose as much in war, therefore (in most cases) there is no point of war.

War is always about who wants to be in control. It is not something to be looked upon lightly. There are many factors that have to be considered when a government decides to go to war. They have also decide if the consequences of war are better than the consequences of just standing by and doing nothing.
Who would you want in control President Bush or Islamic Extremists? I think that regardless of our Presidents down falls he is a better alternative.

You obviously don't understand.
This war isn't our idea. We have been attacked repeatedly over the last 40 years, we are finally fighting back.
The Islamic Extremists have pretty much taken over those countries. The moderate & peace loving Muslims are afraid to say anything (much like the majority of the German people in WWII didn't support Hitler, but would have been killed if they spoke up) so the Extremists are having their way.
If we don't fight them there, we'll be fighting them here.

You and me both wonder the point of war! Obviously, everyone is not civilized. You got the most sinister, stubborn, selfish, scadalous, vengeful, spitefull, and hurtful people who are on this earth causing misery, pain, suffering, death, widows, orphans. It's a sad thing to see. Another sad picture is people talk of freedon, people talk of peace, but how are we solving it? Just more war right? It would be a miracle to wake up to peace!
Heaven on earth is when we wake up to peace.
Healing for the soul is when there is no such thing as selfishness.
Freedom of the mind is when we all make a difference.
The difference is heaven, healing and freedon don't exist.

Well there is no point to the one we are in now. In fact this isn't supposed to be a war; it's supposed to be Post War reconstruction. No one mentions the amount of young people coming home missing limbs, or just being generally messed up mentally. We haven't begun to see the consequences of this little foray into pushing democracy on those who really didn't want it.

There is no point in war, sometimes one foolish mistake, can start a war and destroy millions.Remember Helen of Troy, the face that launched a thousand ships. If she had,had the, courage to,say no to Paris, there would have been no war,and precious lives would not have been lost.

War is a policy tool used to achieve certain goals that our leaders deem to be in our best national interest. If you don't like it, vote for leaders that are less inclined to pull this tool out of the box.
