no. just the baby weight that you gained in this pgcy would come off a bit faster.. i WISH it helped you lose the extra weight lol.. didnt work for me anyway.. I find that initially you lose the baby weight but after that, it personally makes me hungrier when i'm breastfeeding (NO, i havent gained.. just not losing anymore either).

Breastfeeding can make you lose pregnancy weight (or other extra weight) faster than formula feeding. It's not true for everyone and you may find the opposite true if you eat tons of extra calories to accomodate breastfeeding. You do need to eat extra calories, but nothing excessive.
Breastfeeding has many benefits to mom and baby. I would place "losing baby weight" on the benefit list, but there are so many other wonderful benefits too! I encourage you to talk to your OB, a pediatrician, breastfeeding moms (maybe go to a LLL meeting), or a lactation consultant. They can be a great support for you.

Actually, yes, you can lose your "other baby weight" while nursing or pumping.
I just had my third child three months ago. I am still pumping for her. When I got pregnant with her I weighed 138. Now I weigh 130, which is less than I was with my SECOND baby.
I'm not even exercising. I think I've lost all this weight because not only am I pumping regularly but because I'm busy I eat small amounts of food throughout the day.

It can help lose wieght over all. My second was the first I bfed, and I didn't lose weight with him, but my third I bfed too, and I lost all my weight from the 3rd all the weight from the 2nd (they were only 16 months apart) and more besides. I think I did end up right about where I was before my first now that I think about it.

i wish! breastfeeding burns 500 calories a day. i have an 8 mon. old and was back to pre-pregnancy weight by the time she was 4 months old. so it depends on how much weight you need to lose.

No, unfortunately not! Just the weight gained during your current pregnancy.

I am going to BF and it does only help with the weight you gained during that pregnancy.

it depends on how long you breast feed for...i wouldn't do it just to lose weight...i lost mine but it was the worst choice i made because i had a horrible experience that only stressed me out and my daughter.

From what I've seen with others, no.
Don't set your heart on breastfeeding either...it's really hard, not to be negative.
I wish you luck though! :)
