My last depo injection was 18 weeks ago. I have been bleeding for the past 13 days. on and off. I have lots of jelly like clots and for the past 3 days have been flooding.

Is this normal? What are your experiences with your periods returning?

I was on the depo injection for 3 year and I had more advantages than disadvantages when it came to periods as I hardly really had any which suited me. I had to come off it as there was a chance I could develop brittle bone disease in later life. I don't think it is set in stone how it will affect people who stop having it, it various from woman to woman. It does take a while for periods to regulate, I was told it could take a year-18 months for things to settle down. I can't recall ever having jelly like clots when I came off it, but have had like jelly blood clots when I used to bleed very heavy before I was on the injection. I am now on a pill called cerazette which I take every day and I no longer have periods. Think you should speak to your family planning clinic or doctor to discuss this and look at another better method of contraception. Hope everything goes ok xx

When i came off the depo injection i had none stop problems with my periods. I would have really heavy periods then have none for months. But one thing that sounds simalr to you was i passed many jelly like clots during my periods. It took about 18 months until my periods returned to normal i was on the injection for 2 years. Hope it helps to know others have experienced what you are.

My experience with depo was horrible. I only had 2 injections. During the first my periods stopped altogether, the 2nd I bled all the way through. After that I had a period every 2 weeks for 2 years, it took me 3 years to get pregnant and it turned out to be an ectopic, I have gone on to have 3 ectopics in all which I believe to be a direct result of taking depo. There are hundreds of women who have suffered ectopics after taking depo. I think it was the drug that caused the ectopics because before taking the drug I had normal periods and had two normal pregnancies. I wish I had never agreed to try it.
