i'm considering applying as a 911 operator next month. how long would training be? and what is the usual pay? also I go to the police station in my city to find out more about it or what? thank you. hope someone can help me figure out about it.

The pay depends on where you live and the cost of living in the area. It could be $7 per hour or it could be $25 per hour.

Training also depends on the agency you get hired at. The agency I work for has a minimum of 14 weeks of intense training. Some agecnies offer more, others less.

Go do a sit a long at the agency you plan on applying at so you can get a sense of what goes on in that work environment so you know if it is something you CAN and WANT to do.

It is a very stressful job where you will work weekends and holidays and get little in recognition for the hard work you do. But it can also be very rewarding.
