My husband took our xmas cards to Kinkos and the guy behind the counter insisted that it was Smith's. I think he is wrong and it should be Smiths, plural (there are three of us). Let me know if I'm right and should have them reprint the cards with proper grammar!

It should be Merry Christmas from the Smiths-plural, not possessive. Make them reprint!

the guy behind the counter at kinko's is there for a reason, and it's not because he can properly punctuate.

it's "Smiths." your family is the Smiths. "Merry Xmas from the Smiths!"

if the family pet is sending a card, then it's "Merry Xmas from the Smiths' dog." (plural possessive)

if the wife of the man who makes horseshoes and other metal forms is sending a card, it's "Merry Xmas from the smith's wife." (singular possessive)

kinko's should be printing you some new cards for free!

Smiths, with no apostrophe. That indicates possession, and you don't own Christmas, do you? What might be better is "Merry Christmas from the family Smith"
