My Whirlpool dishwasher is a nightmare. We did not expect that an appliance can be that bad. I have to rinse every single item before I put it into the dishwasher. The user manual says I should adjust the machine to rinse for every new item that I put in. It is absurd to waste time, energy and water for every single cup. I tried to put a coffee cup which I did not rinse before. It only had minor coffee spots on the bottom of the cup. Even this minor spot was not cleaned in the dishwasher. I recently asked people. Nobody has to rinse his dishes or has to adjust extra rinse, because they don't have Whirlpool dishwashers. Even their dirties dishes come out clean.
Do you have same or similar problems?

Since I have the dishwasher it does work like that. I have it more than 1 year. But I have a 5 year warranty on all built in home appliances. I use Palmolive liquid detergent. I wrote Whirlpool an e-mail.

I lightly rinse my dishes most of the time.
I would contact Whirlpool directly. This is not normal, they should be aware of this problem. Further, they may have someone come out and fix a problem that they may know about.
Good luck.

Kay: Are you sure that the water in the machine is actually hot? You may have a selection button for extra heat which turns on a heating element located beneath the water level. With caution, open the door after the wash cycle begins and see if the water is hot. If not, that must be corrected. Yes, I always pass my dishes under running water to remove any excess food. It makes the wash water in the washer a little bit cleaner to start out the cleaning process. But remember this "A good detergent and HOT WATER will give you the results you are looking for".

i do have a dishwasher and i cannot tell you what kind mine is since i am at work. i can tell you that i do not rinse dishes unless they are really gross. in fact sometimes my dishwasher impresses me. i think that you should check the holes that the water comes out of to see if they are clogged with anything, try changing detergent to see if that helps, get a new one. if all else fails i would get a new one. your current dishwasher has a problem with being a dishwasher and is not doing a good job.

I have a whirlpool dishwasher and I have never rinsed anything before putting it in.
Everything comes out perfect, everytime.
So it sounds like you might be using the wrong setting (check you are not just using the quick programme which is not very good).
Ensure you have enough salt and rinse aid and away you go!

It's time to call the repairman! IF your dishwasher doesn't wash, rinse and dry your dishes, then something is wrong! Check to see if a hose is crimped or clogged. Whirlpool is a good brand - I hope you bought a service plan. Try searching www.whirlpool.com - see if they have a FAQ page that may help.
Merry Christmas!!!

Just want to make sure...
You are using Palmolive DISHWASHER detergent, yes?
If you're using Palmolive HANDWASHING soap, that's not the same thing. The Dishwasher soap has silica in it to grind stuff off the dishes, and the hand soap wouldn't do this.
Just checking...

I rinse the major chunks of food off, by otherwise, I don't. And I don't have a problem. Is your hot water hot enough? Are you using a good detergent? That could be the problem.

There is something wrong with the dishwasher or something wrong with how you are operating it. Did it ever work right?
Whirlpool is not going to make and sell a washer that won't work. It's not the brand or model...it's something wrong.
