I would like to get some opinions on this. I understand that congress is trying to pass a bill taking citizen ship away from children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants, so if citizen ship is taking away from them even though they were born in the U.S., so what country are they going to be citizens of? Its not the childs fault. I feel if they pass that law that there are going to be alot of confuse young adults in this world. I feel if they can take citizen ship from someone born in the U.S. then who is to say they want take my citizen ship away or my mothers, even though all our family was born and raised in the U.S. Help me understand this, please?

In order to do that, there would have to be an amendment to the US Constitution, and that's extremely unlikely.

As a recap, to amend the constitution, the following has to happen:

It has to pass the House by a 2/3rd margin
It has to pass the Senate by a 2/3rds margin
It has to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states

I wouldn't worry too much about this one.

The reason they are doing this is that illegal immigrants come into this country illegally, and then hope to remain her by having a child here. Since the child IS a citizen of the country (currently), then the parents "have" to stay to raise the child. They call them "anchor babies".

I happen to agree with the law. I think that the child born to illegal immigrants should NOT be given automatic citizenship - they should then become citizens of the country their parents immigrated from. That is the way the US is run - if both parents are a US citizen, and you have a child abroad, that child is automatically a US citizen by default. It should be no different for the illegal immigrants in this country. They only have the children here to beat the system; so make the system prevent this ploy. That is all the government is looking to do.

Don't worry, you have been misinformed. Anyone born in the U.S. is an American citizen by virtue of the 14th amendment; read it here: http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxiv.html

Some people have proposed amending the constitution to deny citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. This, however, is not a practical suggestion due to the difficulty in amending the constitution as another writer has pointed out.

I don't think the law would pass, nor do I think it would get past the Supreme Court.

Congress is trying to do something -- or at least appear as if they're trying to do something -- about illegal immigration. The latest poster child case is that boy who begged the government of Mexico to ask the US to allow his illegal immigrant mother to remain in the US.

A lot of Americans are tired of people breaking the law, and don't want them to be rewarded for it.

One of the oldest and most respected "laws" around the world is that of birthplace to establish citizenship. It has never mattered how, why or under what circumstances - all countries honor that. I really don't see why we would outcast ourselves in the world community by denying anyone born the most respected birthright known in history. Then again, we used to frown on torture too. We always used to point the finger at others and say you shouldn't because we don't (ever) - but now we do that too. So nothing would surprise me. I of course, like any american will defend my birthright by any means necessary. I suggest you do the same.

I doubt this is something that is being seriously considered. For one thing, citizenship is defined in the Constitution, so to change the definition would require a constitutional amendment.

They will be citizens of Mexico. The children shouldn't be mad at the government. They should be mad at their illegal parents for putting them in that situation.
