Here is a scenario, tell me if this is considered a "tax cut for the rich":

Joe and Mike are both widgetiers. they are widget experts, who make the same hourly wage.

Joe likes to work about 25-30 hours a week. He likes the free time he has left to go fishing, camping, and various activities. At the end of the year, Joe's income adds up to be 30,000 dollars before taxes.

Mike likes to work 10-12 hour days, and works the weekends whenever possible to collect overtime. He rarely does anything other than work. He averages about 80-85 hours a week. Mikes income at the end of the year (due to overtime wages) is about 85,000 before taxes.

Tax time rolls around.

In year 2010 Joe paid 3,000 dollars in taxes. (This comes to about 10 percent of his income

In year 2010 Mike paid25,000 dollars in taxes, since he is in a higher tax bracket. (this comes to about 30 percent of his income)

Now a new law only makes mike pay 20,000 dollars (around 23 percent of his income)

I get so tired of the whining about tax cuts "for the rich". My husband and I do pretty well, we're definitely middle-class, but we sure as hell aren't rich. We have really benefited from Bush's tax cuts, and have taken our tax refunds and put the money right back into the economy. And when I say we benefited, I mean our refund went from a couple of hundred bucks to close to a couple of thousand bucks - not a fortune, but certainly appreciated.

I think it's funny that you never hear any rich liberals DEMANDING to pay higher taxes - they just complain about me and you getting a tax break. Nice.

So you disagree the the top tax payers got the biggest percentage cut...from 39% to 33%. The next closest group was the lowest bracket which got a change of 5%.

Thats fine though, you and Rush can give your least likely senerios while ignoring the "real" numbers. The richest people got the biggest cut in tax percentage then any other. On Nov 7, the gun owner, church going, middle class people finally realized they have been shafted by the right for the last 6 years.

To answer this question in a general is difficult but the truth of the matter is about 30% of the people pays 80% of all the taxes and when someone says there is only tax cut for the rich their brain is not in gear since most of the poor do not pay any income tax who else would you give the tax to, you have to pay taxes to get a tax cut.

By my estimation neither Mike nor Joe is rich. The ones I'm after are those who make anything from $100,000 to $6,000,000,000 a year and pay the same percentage of income in taxes. That ain't right.

Everybody should pay the same percentage of their incomes for taxes, it does not matter rich or poor. Actually, the rich are the ones who contribute more to the economy because they spend more. It's all BS, the rich gets richer.

The rich gets richer is because they have learnt how to become wealthy, not because of taxes. They take riskd and that is why they are rich. Poor people all they do is complain and don't take risks, that's why they are poor - this is a fact!

Neither one of these people would qualify as rich, so no. Do you not know what rich means?

arcticchi....you really don't pay attention do you? Plenty of rich liberals supporting higher taxes on the rich. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates to name just two. And again, we want higher taxes for the RICH, NOT THE MIDDLE CLASS.

is this a hypothetical question or do you have sources to indicate that these numbers are correct?

also, by "tax cuts for the rich" i'm not bothered by what tax breaks the $85,000 people get, i'm concerned that people who make $1 million plus are getting big tax cuts.

Rich or poor, no one should pay a higher percentage than another, it simply isn't right.
