i understand people need something to have faith in.
But why cant that faith be put in themselves, not a book?
you can have your moral, your pride and be humble, by following your heart instead cant you?
im sure if god or whatever was real, he would be happier knowing that your life right because you valued your life and the world around you, as an oppose to just being fearful of him.
sure, theres a higher power than us. infact i belive theres many.
why not be greatful for the ones that you actually know exist (the elements)?
why not live for yourself?

Live for ourselves? That's easier said than done. In the end it's actually easier to believe in something you have almost no proof of than to believe that you are always right, and basically good.
When you think about it, most of us are insecure every day. That security isn't something you can just wish into being. People get by, of course, but for those who hit rock bottom or who live in situations that are completely horrible, it's nice to be able to believe in something bigger than them. If we didn't have something better to look at, something prettier and far more happy than what we have in front of us, some of us would lose all hope.
So it's hard to just have faith in yourself just by looking in a mirror or looking at what you can do. There is always someone who can do it better, but if you believe in a God you can feel special. You can be the same as everyone else because you have a higher-up being who knows you. You're not worthless anymore.
That's just my opinion.

Hi,
Whats the point in religion?
-Nothing
Whats the point in God?
-Everything!
Look behide religion, look behide the world.
Where did you come from?
Do you really think you were a mistake? That some dust came togather and made us!?!
Let me make it so you understand.
I have this car. Its a beautiful car. I love it!
How was this car made? I belive that there was this dust that got togather at the junk yard at just the right morment. at just the right time! And all the pieces came up, and made my car.
That sounds stuipd huh? Thats what people are saying now.
So if thats not true. What is? How did we become?
I belive that God made us. He loves us sooo much!
He made us, he gave us the trees and grass, pets. What ever more!
All he wants is to be our friend.
I know your rolling your eyes, and thinking "freak!"
But its the truth!
Thats the point of religoion.
Not just religoion.
But THE religoion
All the others just got made up.
They were looking for something, and they thought, hey! I know how we were made this and this happend. and so I'm going to make a reliogon of it.. ITS NOT TRUE.
They were looking for anwers just like you. So they just made something up.
So at end
Its not religion that is so amazing.
Its THE religion.
its THE God,,,, not the gods.
And God loves you..
Have a great day!

What you belive is a "religion". look it up to be religious: 'relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity'
A belief is a religion; my "religion" is science. To have no god and rely on facts is a belief. Where would you be without you belief in elements??!! - well that kind of how people all over need to believe is something anything; but it still has to fill a human.

Many, if not most "religions" are used to 'pacify/control' the masses in one way or another.
Also, believing in something 'without-question' (Blind-faith) can prove a very useful tool for unscrupulous persons/governments, 'power-hungry persons' etc.
If a person is already believing things that (by-definition) require no proof, then it's a much easier matter to get that/those person/s to believe many other 'non-sensical' things. IMO
Perhaps even causing large blocks of persons to VOTE according to a (hijacked) "religious"-school/s of thought/s.
Fear of 'eternal-torment' can be a very powerful way to influence people, especially if one starts them out as young as possible.
Terrorizing children with 'eternal-torment' is but one (socially-acceptable-?) method of 'continuing-control' over people.
The 'collection-plate', along with 'Tax-Free' status, is also a big draw for the greedy and manipulative types.

Most people have too much self doubt to believe in themselves, so they need something else to believe in and to guide them. The truer question, and this comes from a Christian, is this:
Did organized religion cause these millions of people to become self doubters and need something else in their lives to guide them? ie. Jesus, Budda, Allah, Jehovah, Satan (insert your own God here)
And was organized religion forced down their throats by a "well meaning" parent or guardian?
Society creates itself. And the chaos that surrounds us, including the self doubt and reliance upon idols and false idols is our own creation. So in my opinion, if worshipping brass door knobs gets you through life as a good person then please, bow down to that door knob and make a better person of yourself. Just be the best person you can be and let Whoever that higher power is sort us all out in the end.

personal opinion:
religion is a means of extorting money from people who fall for the cheap anitcs of the people who propagate religion.
people just need to believe that there's something greater out there. in some cases, they need to belong... and what better way to belong than to join a religious group?

The point of religion depends upon who you are, what your aspirations are, and who's putting $$ in your pocket.
Religion does many things; not all of them good.
It gives human beings a sense of hope.
It possibly gives them an explanation to their existence.
It allows some people to amass great amounts of wealth and power.
It keeps the poor from murdering the rich.
I do, for the most part, "live for myself," but I also take care of my obligations to friends and family.
