whats the difference between a poll and a vote?

A poll is just a survey to get the general consensus/opinion... a vote actually has an outcome where something will be changed depending on the votes.

Poll has several different definitions. Poll and vote could mean the same thing or not. Poll is often used to indicate where a person votes. Vote is the filling out of the actual ballot.
