My reply may appear strange... To start with, as a general rule, that you could have contemporary mozzarella. Nonetheless, most mozzarella comes from the Naples area in Italy, the place the rubbish crews had been on strike for quite some time now, actually a number of months. My mother-in-law is an endocrinologist and works with dietetics quite slightly. She warned me, as i'm 32 weeks pregnant, to avoid mozzarella. It is not for listeria factors however for air pollution! The entire garbage within the streets has been bad for the air first-class which is leaving pollution within the cheese! So, if you're simplest having a bit every so often i'm sure there is not any actual damage being performed. That you would be able to investigate the package for the provenance of the cheese to place your intellect at rest. Excellent of good fortune to you and congratulations!

You have to be very careful about eating cheese during pregnancy as there is a risk of getting Listerosis. This is a rare disease which, in its mild form, resembles influenza. It is caused by a species of bacteria which is able to grow in certain foods at normal refrigerator temperatures. It is important to avoid this disease during pregancy because even a mild attack in the mother can result in miscarriage, still birth, or severe illness in the newborn baby. Pregnant women should therefore avoid:

soft cheeses e.g. Brie, Camembert and blue veined cheese
pate
'cook-chill' meals unless they have been heated til piping hot throughout
meat which is not cooked thoroughly, particularly chicken!

Good Luck with the baby!!!

Mozzarella is safe to eat. It is Feta cheese that they advised me not to eat while pregnant. It is a good question. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck.

Yes. The only restriction about cheese is that it has to be pasteurized. As long as it is pasteurized any cheese is good. Plus, it is loaded with calcium, which you need a lot during pregnancy.

Enjoy!
