Albert Camus struggled with this question and decided that because there was no inherent meaning in life, it was vital that we each give our own lives meaning.

What brings happiness to you? What do you do that helps other people? What makes you special, what is unique to you, that you do well? How can you spend more of your time engaged with these qualities?

My practical answer is to hang out with a community of people with learning disabilities. They understand all about valuing people as individuals and treasuring friendships. I get social kudos elsewhere for being a good person and volunteering, but seriously, I don't know what I'd do without my friends there.

I went through a period a few weeks ago when a friend died. He was only 23 yrs old. He was a good person, a nice helpful person, an extremely intelligent person who had everything in the world going for him, studied hard in school, got a good job, lots of potential. I kept wondering why he died, but here I was... a person who's screwed up so much, still alive. I'm still not completely sure why. Maybe to teach me a lesson to appreciate what I have in life cuz it can be taken away in a second??
Sometimes I feel like life has screwed me over too, but now I've slowed down. I've taken a job that I don't necessarily like, but is paying my debt, slowly very slowly. Right now, I'm looking as it as, a job not a career. My bf of 5 yrs had screwed me over, but I'm over it know... accepting the fact that I lost 5 yrs on someone who wasn't worth it, yet appreciating that I didn't marry or have kids with him. I've lost many friends in life, but now realize they weren't true friends. Life is still a learning process for me. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing. I know it will take a few years before I'm stable, but I'll get there... I'll be happy with my life eventually. Right now, I'm just taking it step by step.

I have a feeling that the purpose of life is to LOVE. Love the people in your life that support you and care about you..sometimes you don't appreciate them until they are gone. Love nature to make it a greener place. Love strangers to help the poor who are hungry and homeless. Love other countries/people to have peace. What is the purpose of having money if you are not going to do good with it? - it can be gone in a second, but the good you do can multiply and last forever. You want to teach your kids to be good people, to be kind loving people. A person who knows love, knows what a difference it can make in one's life. I know this is sounding sappy, but I really do believe love can solve the world's problems. Ok, I'm done with my essay...LoL =)

I feel like that all the time. If I didn't have a son I would feel like the meaning of life is pointless. He's what gives it meaning. My mom always gives me the same piece of advice which is things seem so hard now, but keep working hard and it will get better. I am not sure if that's true but it makes me feel a little better.

The truth is, that this is a question that you have too look inside yourself to find. No one person can give you the answer. But maybe you can find someone or something that leads you to your answer. Im native american a holy person and psychologist, and i can tell you what i believe, that life is the process of living every day facing new challenges and learning to overcome them. In the process of life what you learn you need to pass it on to others to help them with their journeys. If you need help consult Carlos Costeneda its a good start. great books. Always remember, live each day like it is your last, try not to judge others, lose your negativity and love always love.

There is no meaning to life. We are a tiny portion of a vast and complex eco system (that sadly we are destroying).

But if you want to give meaning to your own life, you need a higher purpose. whether that be caring for downtrodden kids in your area or helping out in a soup kitchen. Don't be so selfish. Help someone else out and do that everytime you feel bad. It will give you perspective and you might not feel so sorry for yourself.

I hear what your saying. I keep myself motivated through spirituality...i just tell myself that everything happens for a reason..... all the bad stuff and the good.....Believe me, i've been in that phase more often than not.....where you feel like nothing works out right...but just keep going....everything falls into place if you stop fighting against life...and walk with it instead. Just keep going and you'll figure out the meaning of your life in due time.

The only thing that can help you is your brain. Never despair. If you get the flu every year, just think all the time: "I'm the type that never gets the flu". Practice specially everynight before sleeping. Also, apply this to all domains.
Good luck m' man, and never despair. Every problem has its solution...

You come here to obtain a body and to learn. Before you came here you and your Heavenly Father had a chat. He asked you what you wanted to learn. You told him and He said in order to do that you will need to go down certain paths. You should always strive to do your best, but when things don't go the way you plan, don't sweat the small stuff. God knows what you need to learn. Know you are a child of God, you have a purpose and there is a plan for you. You know, it wouldn't hurt to ask Him for help. He's always there ya know...just waiting for you to ask.

Life is what you make it.

You can do good things, nobody said this was going to be easy, you are a great person, keep trying, you will figure it all out, people love you, and always keep going....
