The abuse of child, whether it is sexual or not, is and has been common place in the Catholic faith. I had the awful experience but now live a fullfilling life. Would enjoy hearing from others and how they recovered.
PS IF you a STILL an abusor/abusee Catholic, I'm don't want you criticism.

Haven't been abused huh? Well hurrah for you! Have you no compassion for the rest of us? Well, I guess not, its not the catholic way is it.

Aces: It was my experience that I am reporting on. Also I have heard Catholics advocate loudly and strongly on beating the h&* out of kids. And they were considered good parents.

Amazing too how many are here to give support to the abusors. Trying to ignore it aren't you.

I have been a catholic all of my life (48 years) and attended Catholic School up until 5th grade.

I come from a loving family and was never abused by nuns or priests. The nuns were tough demanding teachers, but I learned a lot in the process.

The priests and nuns I have known have been compassionate, kind people who would go out of their way to take care of people. They always had time for a person who was troubled or hurting.

I am sorry that you have had bad experiences in your own life, but nearly all of the Catholics I know have not had any abuse issues with priests and nuns.

Not giving support to the abusers. Less than 4% of priests have been accused of sexual abuse of children, so I would not call it common place. I give my support to the 96+% of priests and nuns that are holy men and women who are serving their God by serving others

my husband is in the military. three of his soldiers were asked by a military catholic chaplain to go to the bar he said he would pay for everything. he got them drunk had them sleep in different rooms and raped them. the soldier's called my husband the next day he took them to the military police. they pressed charges and arrested him. during the investigation this Chaplin had raped two other soldiers using the same method after they returned from Iraq. these soldiers where in another country and in no way new each other in order to collaborate on their stories. this story was printed in the army times news paper. why the heck didn't the civilian news Media pick this up?

Why just the Catholics? If you want to help someone who has been abused, why not help all? And how can you say it's commonplace? Do you always paint with such a broad brush?

Doesn't matter what the faith, their are a lot of sick people doing dirt to young kids and they will get theirs in the long run.
