You'll still have the period the first week you start. Then every time you start the sugar pills you'll have a period. Look at calendar: with most BC pills - You take the normal pills for 3 wks then 1 wk for your period. Mark of the wks for your period till you get to new years eve. Also, make sure that if you have sex during the month after you start the pill that you need to use another type of birth control because it takes that pill a month to become effective. Good Luck and Take care!

Its best to start your pill on a Sunday. It don't really matter when. (its best the Sunday after your period.) Then you will get your period the day after your last pill (you don't need to take the sugar pills if you don't want to. they have nothing to do with the hormones) Chances are you will get your period on like a Monday or Tuesday. Then you start the new pack of pills on the Sunday after and keep going from there! Hope I helped. I was on the pil for 5 years before I got pregnant, now I'm on them again!

You don't want to start your pills the sunday after your period starts, because your doctor told you to start them the first day of your period. I think this depends on the type of birth control pill you got... so please make sure you do it the way your doctor said.

Yes... you will still have your period. Sucks.

But, you will probably get clearer skin! Oh how I wish I could go back on BC for that... and have lighter periods, and shorter ones...

And PLEASE remember the pill takes a whole month to be effective= condomns!! I did not know that when I was given mine, and if I would have gotten pregnant by that cheater-ugh it would have been awful!!

It depends on the precription of the BC. Some can make you have 4 periods a year, some can't. I'd recommend that you wait til your period starts (UNLESS your doctor told you to take them now) and continue to take them until you are ready (if you're of age) to get pregnant.

use it as directed. you can't stop your period, that's why it comes every month...it's supposed to. but if that's a concern, you could talk to your doctor about other forms (like the shot that will make your period very very light, or seasonale where you only get it 4 times a year)

I've always been told that you start your birth control on the sunday AFTER your period ENDS. But maybe your taking something different. Be sure of using it correctly.

The easiest way to do it is to begin your pack on the first SUNDAY after you start your period.
