We teenagers tend to want to look good, to make an image of ourselves. What me and my friends do is wear the trends and stuff. We love necklaces especially the ones that are in, leggings are hott as long as you have winter boots or something with them, sexy earrings, neutral make up, cute accessories, and a outfit that defines you

Well, most kids try to act cool by basically impersonnating adult actions. If the main adult in their life smokes, cusses, dresses scantily, or just basically does whatever they feel like doing, kids will think that this is cool. They will follow suit with what they are accustommed to. On the other hand, these are the same kids that rub off on impressionable youngsters who are very sheltered at home.
The funny thing about it (from my experience), the coolest kids were the "preps" in my school days because their parents could afford to get them cars and they wore hip clothes (American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, stuff like that). BUT, the lot of these kids were well-behaved, had great marks in school, and now, as an adult, the most of them have been to college.
I think that the impressionables of the children are the ones who vie to be like these "preppy" kids, although they say they don't want to be like them. I know that I dressed like a skater and I said aloud that I was "pro-prep killer," but deep down, I wanted the same things that they had: nice clothes, cars, and a lot of friends. I mean, I had friends, and I had outstanding grades, I just didn't fit into the popular crowd because I didn't like to dress in sweater vests and Mary Janes (which were popular circa 1997/1998). BUT, I was cool amongst my friends because I was completely different from them: I didn't smoke (still don't), didn't drink, didn't cuss (a lot). I also had great grades and played soccer, did cheerleading, and was very active in choir and piano. I think everybody thinks that everyone is cool in different ways.... it's about wanting what we don't have. One of the most basic instincts that all of us humans share.

to look cool in school is hard because there are so many circles within the make up of a school, i will give you my advice, be yourself....but look for the long term. I'm retired, and never was a go getter, i was and still am just satisfied with just earning enough to get by, and by the size of my pension and social security that's what i do now. what i would like you to do is that a drive around at some of the rich peoples homes, and realize that is just the beginning of their holdings...vacation homes...boats...cars...and more....check out what is needed to become a stock broker, dentist, doctor, lawyer. you can do it, work hard...that is what you have to do in real life anyway....waitress, secretary, or house wife.
why not work hard for lots of money, and still be yourself. good luck, john

why do you want to look cool?
Being one of the cool kids is passe.
Nerds and Geeks, those with substance and intelligence are the new Cool kids. Your looks don't get you far with anyone if you open your mouth and stupidity falls out.

It's not really what you have to do to be cool...it is how you feel about yourself inside that makes a person seem cool. Personal confidence or at least the pretending that you have confidence...can pave roads for you...even as an adult. SELF CONFIDENCE!!!
Feel good about yourself and embrace what makes you different from everyone else.

They must have their own thing or identity.
It can be qwerky or wierd ... like wear a rubber band around their wrist ... say it's for luck or self defence or something.
