smokers are addicts, addicted to nicotene & they don't quit they stop! they don't say an alchohllic, or a gambler, or a sex addict, etc. quits? they say that they have stopped or are sober for.....

Maybe for the same reason we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway, or run something over instead of running over something?

If you are in the process of the addiction of smoking and decide to stop in order to complete such a task you must quit first.

I always say I "stopped smoking" instead of quit, I still feel the urge to smoke... Never really thought of it

The other addicts are more organized, and more tired of the "Don't be a quitter" joke than cigarette smokers.
