How often you need to clean depends on the size of the tank they are in. Do you know what kind of goldfish they are? Fancy goldfish will eventually need 20 gallons of water, each. Larger types like commons, comets, koi, really ought to be kept in ponds because they need hundreds of gallons. Goldfish are very pollutant fish; they eat a lot and they poop alot, and they produce a lot of toxic ammonia.
Anyway, do you have a filter on your small tank? If not, you need to be cleaning the water almost every day. Buy a clean turkey baster, and suck out half the water and uneaten food every day and replace with clean, dechlorinated water.
If you have a filter, you can probably clean it every 4 or 5 days.
Don't get an algae eater... other than goldfish, algae eaters are the highest waste producers you can get. They also excrete a lot of ammonia and should only be kept in large tanks.
Feed once or twice a day, but only a tiny pinch. Only feed what they can eat in 2-3 minutes. You should remove any uneaten food with a net, or it'll rot and stink up the tank.
Please considering getting a bigger thank for your goldfish; they will not live long in a small tank, but they can live 15+ years in a proper sized tank.

Goldfish actually need a minimum of 10 gallons each when babies, not 1 gallon and no fish should be in a bowl let alone 2 goldfish. Since it is so over stocked anything else you add will just cause them all to die that much faster, goldfish are very messy fish and produce a lot of ammonia, which is deadly. If you want those fish to live I suggest getting them at least a 20 gallon tank with a filter that pumps the water at least 200 gph and read up on cycling. Until then clean that bowl everyday and only feed a tiny amount once a day.

Goldfish SHOULD NEVER be in a bowl (they will die fast)!
they need at least 10 Gal per fish, and a pleco will suck the slime off the gold fish body (not a good combo)
they need to eat daily, but they also need filtration.
and sometimes even a heater.. I have fancies, and I set their heat on 70 all the time.

if you have a large tank it dont need to be cleaned but once a month or so and yes a algea eater would keep it cleaner and do no harm to the fiish and you should only feed the a tiny amount 2 times a day and mak sure when you do change there water to take the water temp.and put them in a container while your cleaning the tank.and make sure it is the same tempurature as the tank.

goldfish need at least a gallon of water per fish to be happy/comfy. try to get a bigger bowl, less stressful, you know how it is. they really don't need much to be happy, besides space, clean water and food. my goldfish, bless her soul, actually asks for food every time i walk in the room! i'm serious, she sees me coming and presses up against the side of the bowl nearest me and does this little hungry dance until i sprinkle a few flakes in her bowl, then gobbles it down excitedly!
some people will say you have to feed your fish twice a day, morning and night, some say once a day, while others say 2-4 times a week, yikes! i find it best to feed a fish twice a day, a small amount in the morning and at night.
you should clean the bowl whenever it looks cloudy. the more fish eat the more they poop and the more residue the food leaves behind, so it'll depend on that. but your best bet is to clean it twice a week (or as often as needed).

Take a verify out the climate. Betta are carnivores so if it relatively is ordinarily plant cloth then it is not adequate nutrients. If the climate are marvelous and your betta will consume it then you certainly'll have the means to be first-fee. while you get a raffle %. up some treats like shrimp or bloodworms.

i would feed them daily, and only a few pellets. change the water out every few days, or whenever it begins to look cloudy. keep about a gallon of water out on your counter so it is room temperature and that should be the water you continuously use. too hot or too cold will shock them!
