Personally I think being a garbage collector in the dead of winter is one of the most miserable (not to mention unappreciated) jobs there is. To hang off the back of a smelly truck with the cold wind blowing on you and have to pick up other people's trash, I really can't think of anything worse than that.

I would say no. First off, working retail on regular days is a pain anyway because customers for the most part are just rude. Add the christmas stress of tons of people at the mall, the busy factor, and sale items flying off the shelves and you got a little piece of hell on your hands. I guess every now and then you will find a cheery holiday customer who will make your day, but for the most part. I think retail can be a pain in the neck during the holiday season.

Working as a waitress is harder. I've done both. Working at a nice restaurant during Christmas sucks!!!! You get huge parties, and no one tips well because they are spending too much money on gifts! Or they get really drunk and want to grab you!

working for the post office during Christmas, you have to process all the Christmas cards, answer Santa letters and have them sent out and LOTS more parcels to deliver, longer hours for the same pay......... at least in retail if you work later or get an extra shift you get paid.

I actually kind of enjoy it. I like being the cheerful listener if that is what they need, course you gotta listen to my credit card spiel first...but I shut up right away if I sense a NO.
