i have heard that a religious organization (Church of Latter Day saints, Jehovah's witnesses etc.) actually own the magazine which sometimes effects it objectivity. Is this true or is it a publicly held company?

None of the corporate entities used by the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses owns the magazine "Consumer Reports".

The Jehovah's Witness publications "The Watchtower" and "Awake!" enjoy circulations of about 27 million and 32 million per issue. They publish in hundreds of languages.

It is owned by the non-profit group Consumers Union... a consumer advocacy group. You can read about them at the link below

It's in Yonkers, NY.

I've found them to be very objective. What does testing a camera have to do with CLDS?
