I get bummed out from time to time because things aren't going as great in my life as I wish they were at the moment. I don't currently have a girlfriend. I don't have a high paying job. I don't drive a new car or live in a 'cool' apartment. I'm in debt. Poor me. To try and put things inperspective, I decided to make a list in my head of all the positive things in my life and one of the negative, or should I say, challenges to overcome. When I thought deeply about it, the list of positives was far longer than the list of negatives. I once thought it was lame and corny when some people emphasized the 'power of positive thinking', but I can confidently say now that I have joined the ranks of the believers. Yes, there are times where it's hard to look on the brighter side, but what are the options? Would we want to overcome our discouragement, or be overcome BY our discouragement? So things aren't perfect. SO WHAT?! Why do we mope about thing when so many others have it worse than we do?

Not everyone is as enlightened as you. Some people just compare themselves constantly to impossible ideals and forget to look for the good in their own life. Congrats on finding this wisdom, it will keep you smiling for the rest of your days. Focusing on the positive is the only way to keep your head up some days!!!

You are correct in your thinking. It's not that others have it worse, it's what we do with what we have and how we think about it.

When you ponder the nature of positive thinking it seems to help especially when you realize that all the compulsive thoughts push away from the positive. That's the way I look at it, when you qualify the negative you are grinding away and it becomes more difficult to make it (negative thinking) go away. But, when you corral the positive side, almost everything becomes a little easier and solvable or, at the very least, not as important!

Consider this: Quantum mechanics tell us that all things are in wave format, life, inanimate what ever. We are all a product of fluctuating wave forms, some solid, some not and some in between. Based on that theory, and if you believe it (Einstein did), you can buy into some really heavy positive reaction. Check it out: Key word "SECRET" and find out the laws of positive attraction. It will give you a deeper understanding of what you are discovering.

Good Luck!

i think its because most of the time we like to compare ourselves with someone who is wealthy or whom we think has it all, in reality they might not have it all. we refuse to look the other way, who are less fortunate than us, because that is the direction of life we don't want to go to. we end up looking up to those who have lots of money or who have houses and cars....but there is something really imporant to remmeber. if you walk with your head up you won't be able to see where you are going and if you walk with your head down too far you still wont' be able to see where your going so just look streight and try to find a balance in between. so what if you are in debt, at least you are not too rich to be spoiled and be greedy and everyone hates you for having it all or you are not too poor that you have to live on the streets. believe me i get these feelings too. i think what can help us all is understanding what we are really seeking in life, good home, car, relationship or something more. sometimes i think the homeless pepole have alot more than we all might. becuase they have a sense of who they are and sometimes when we try too hard to accomplish those things that can be bought with money we loose our sense of being within our selves.

I AGREE! Many people don't realize how much they really have and take it for granted that they have so much freedom. There are countries out there who opress their citizens and lock them up for being in a different political party. There are people dying of hunger. Many times we don't realize how good we have it until we don't have what we had. I think a trip to a third-world country would be a real eye-opener for many people.

Because humans are born with a strong self-preserving nature. Our instinct is to worry about ourselves not everybody else. It takes a little more thought and conciousness to compare your life with that of others.
