That is essentially what your getting when you buy these next gen consoles. Their price is on par with a personal computer yet it cannot perform some of the simplest tasks a pc can.

So I suppose I shouldn't buy a DVD player either. Why don't I just get a graphcis card with TV input and sell my TV. I should probably get rid of my stereo too.

Okay here is the point I am making, a console is like all of those other things I talked about, yes a computer could do them as well, but these things specialize in them. To call the Playstation 3 a 600 dollar graphics card is selling it short, very short. First of all it has memory, and a main processor, and a hard drive, so technically you are wrong there. A 600 personal computer could not even come close, not even CLOSE to giving you the gaming quality of a Playstation 3, a gaming computer would cost upwards of $1500 to give you that kind of quality. In addition, the PS3 has a built in Blu-Ray player, and those things by themselves are selling for over $500. So to be honest, when you really look at it practically speaking, the Playstation 3 is actually giving you a lot for the money.

whats sad is gaming pc's have been putting out games with higher quality resolutions and much more complex graphics than the ps3 or xbox360 for years now. i mean look my x800xt (which i just replaced with an x1900xtx) was able to play most games at 1280x1024. the ps3 and xbox 360 run at 720p which is a fancy way of saying 1280x720. so now my x1900xtx can really put out some rendering power and it only cost me 400 bucks. so just figure that 600 dollar gfx card is able to make your pc out do the new generation consoles and hold its own when the next "next gen" consoles come out..

They are for game play. When I first got my first computer it had a 1.2 gb harddrive, today nevenwinter nights 2 the pc game is like 2.5 gb. Just the way things go. In 5 years that card will be worth around $25.00.
