They also want average women to feel comfortable shopping and buying from their store.
Considering that 99.99% of women do NOT look like the VS models, they need to level the field when it comes to people actually buying.
Having hot sales people might attract more men to the store, but I doubt it would increase their sales overall

Your question and perspective seems to be influenced by the fact that you didn't get hired to work in the store. Looking over what you wrote, I can see exactly why.
Not only do you have a negative attitude, but you type like you're 12 and have no grasp of the English language. They want to hire qualified associates who are nice, helpful and can provide the best customer service possible to their clients so that they can see higher sales numbers.
What I see from you, instead, is a negative person who is very conceited. No wonder why you didn't get hired!
You may be "pretty" on the outside (I've never seen a picture, but you proclaim that you are), but your inside beauty is nonexistant.
Try to get an attitude check instead. Maybe you'll get hired there next time -- and be a bit more mature as well. So you didn't get hired, so what? Find another place to go and don't bash people who work there. That's the most immature thing you can do.

Not one for modesty are you? You probably didn't get hired at VS because you weren't qualified or that they didn't like your personality. I would much rather have a girl that wasn't as attractive but intelligent help me in the store than a pretty girl that didn't know what she was talking about. Also, when I go in Victoria's Secret all I care about is how the lingerie will look on ME. I don't care how it would look on a sales associate, so how gorgeous they are doesn't matter to me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as well. A girl who is ugly to you might very well be gorgeous to someone else.

Very incorrect thought process. Abercrombie and Hollister (same co. btw) hire attractive people of both sexes because they sell to both sexes. Victoria's Secret on the other hand, is only catering to women. I would think if all the women were supermodels it would make the average woman who shops at VS feel very inadequate. Also, VS deals with an older more intelligent crowd. I have seen some pretty girls at VS but I think they actually hire based on skill level and ability to work with the customers etc. Beauty won't get you everywhere in life (but it may get you far in some cases...). Now beauty and intelligence, that it infallible.
You probably didn't get hired because you didn't have enough experience, you are bad at interviewing, you were cocky because you think you are hot thus deserve the job, or any number of other factors. Don't just assume all VS employees are not pretty just because you are upset. That's just spiteful.

I'm guessing that the executives at Victoria's Secret really want to hire women who look like the supermodels they use in their ads, but they are also faced with the problem of unattractive women suing for discrimination if they don't get hired and it is implied that their looks are the reason why. In this culture where everyone is so afraid of being politically incorrect, it's probably easier to just hire a few overweight girls with acne and greasy hair than to start a whole huge federal case over it. Also, it may be a marketing ploy. As I'm sure you've noticed, there are a lot more women who don't fit into the ideal culture standards for beauty than there are women who do. Maybe Victoria's Secret feels that if they exclusively hire gorgeous women to sell their products, "average" and "below average" women will take that as a sign that only gorgeous women should buy Victoria's Secret merchandise, and they won't even think about shopping there. However, if "average" and "below average" women serve as representatives of the store, the average American woman can sort of see themselves as equals and will buy Victoria's Secret merchandise. Makes sense, doesn't it?

You're not crazy. I noticed this too. It may not happen at all stores but yes they do hire many average/below average women. I believe this is to make women feel more comfortable shopping there.

i could hesitate over the " extra qualified " area, yet people who're judged by employing present day community standards to be extra cosmetically captivating are somewhat employed over people who're much less fortunate. yet merely a jerk, and an fool could hire somebody unqualified, while somebody else who's qualified is attainable. If no longer, they had quickly study why, the stressful way.

thats stupid who are you to say what is beautiful and whats not.
here:some people might think im pretty
others might think im ugly
beauty is in the EYE of the beholder and not you so you cant judg that because you might not be that pretty
and victoria scret sells panties and bras that are sexy to people who like them.not because of the sales associates.
and the reason you didnt get the job is for some reason other than your looks maybe its your brain!

That is not true about the sales people at the VS close to me. They are all pretty and very polite. I think that your attitude for finding a job is completely negative. You will get a job if you are competent, not pretty and conceded!
